NEW YORK, NY (Universal Music Enterprises) - Sixty-five million albums later and the hysteria continues for iconic rockers Def Leppard. With the band's latest album, "Yeah!," debuting in the Top 20 of Billboard's Top 200 Album Chart (marking the group's 10th consecutive Top 20 debut), and a sold-out tour that rocks America through November 19th, Def Leppard is now preparing to release a special edition of "Hysteria," the group's best-selling album and one of the pre-eminent rock albums in music history. The release celebrates the album's upcoming 20th anniversary with a 2CD "Hysteria - Deluxe Edition", set for release on 10/24/06.
Along with the original album, newly digitally re-mastered, "Hysteria - Deluxe Edition" adds 15 bonus tracks recorded around the time of the original 1987 release. The collection includes all five studio b-sides of the 7" singles, all five live b-sides issued on 7" and 12" (and later on CD singles), and all five extended remixes from 12" and CD singles. The packaging features all of the elements of the original album plus additional photos, single sleeve artwork, an essay by noted rock journalist David Fricke, and detailed discographical information. For Def Leppard fans, as well as rock fans in general, the "Hysteria - Deluxe Edition" offers the most complete presentation of the legendary album ever issued.

FYI... "Release Me" is a great weapon. if you ever have a party that's dragging, and you want people to get the hint and leave, put this song on. It'll work--especially the second half. I guarantee.
(It's sung by DL's tour manager/chef Malvin "Stumpus Maximus" Mortimer. The backing vocals by the Good Ol' Boys is really DL)

I WILL be getting this.
I really do not believe that Def Leppard has recorded a bad album, so hopefully the other ones will get an upgrade as well... at least the sound quality.

FYI... if you want the "video mix" of PSSOM with the "Bomb bomb bomb, love is like a bomb bomb, I'm hot" intro... you need to get the Rock of Ages CD.

Re: Def Leppard : Hysteria (30th Anniversary) 08/04

Def Leppard‘s smash hit Hysteria LP is getting bulked up for its 30th anniversary.
Rolling Stone has the details on the latest edition of the album, which is set to arrive in stores Aug. 4 — nearly 30 years to the day after its original release — in a variety of configurations offering everything from a single-disc remaster to a seven-disc box stuffed with bonus material.
“During our 40-year career, we’ve been blessed to have experienced some incredible highs, work with some amazing people and enjoy success beyond our wildest dreams,” singer Joe Elliott told the magazine. “The Hysteria album was a labour of love, of that there is no doubt. But we’ve always believed you get what you give, and the longevity of the album is testimony to our sold belief in ourselves and the music.”
In addition to the single-disc “vanilla” remaster, Hysteria is being reissued in a pair of two-LP vinyl editions (one colored), a triple-disc “deluxe” edition that adds a slew of B-sides, radio edits and remixes, and finally the aforementioned box, which tacks on the audio version of the band’s In the Round, In Your Face concert film as well as an array of promo videos, live performances and the Classic Albums documentary on the album, plus four books.
Hysteria‘s 30th anniversary reissue, which is available to pre-order now, marks the record’s second return to stores. As many fans no doubt recall, it was previously expanded to double-disc length to commemorate its 20th anniversary.

Re: Def Leppard : Hysteria (Deluxe Edition) 10/24
Def Leppard is my wife's favorite band. She has seen them 35 times. Followed them around the country. Even dragged me onto the Def Leppard cruise last year, where Joe Elliot lost his voice and couldn't sing, and Jimmy Bain died in his cabin. Fun times.
I'll be picking this up for her for sure. Happy wife, happy life!

^ Not as big a fan as that but I have 2 copies of the Hysteria vinyl LP, wore the first one out, had to buy another, still have both (for some reason I kept the worn out copy). While one of my favorite bands (besides Pink Floyd) I have no reason to upgrade. The 2nd LP still sounds great. Saw them once in concert for the Hysteria tour, they were amazing.

I picked up Pyromania and Hysteria 2 disc deluxe editions a few years back. I'll have to pass on this one

If the reviews indicate it sounds better than the last remaster then I'll get it. Right now I'm good with the original CD.
Really disappointing there's no 5.1 mix. I know there's not a huge market for it but this album could definitely shine in that configuration.

WoW this was like my favorite album in high school, I completely wore out one copy of that tape and bought another one!
