Costco -- A Few New Sets

Hit the local Costco today and picked up Battlestar Galactica: Season 2.5 for $30.09; and The Boris Karloff Collection and Inner Sanctum Mysteries for $18.89 each. Not bad.

I picked up Daniel Boone Season 2 for $29.99. I've read in other areas it is $29.09. They had DB Season 1 too for the same price.

Thanks-I've seen those.

Ah! I had ID -- Initial Dyslexia. Nary a chainsaw in sight at Costco, except in the hardware section...

No Chainsaw Massacre or Nightmare on Elm Street. But, on the plus side, they did expand the DVD section by a few risers

I was there today and NG were also marked $44.99. They also had a sticker on them that essentially said, buy two NG (or DS9 or any combination of the two) and get $18 off. This would bring down the price of each to $35.99. They however rang it up as $18 of each as long as they were bought in pairs--$27.99 each! I pointed this out to them but they said they had been doing it all week--so I got that price on six of them.

Dang, I may have to give that a try! As a classic Trek fan who never really bothered with TNG or DS9 before now (but is interested), any recommendation for which sets/series I ought to go for?

So wait. How much did each season cost you then?

To: ThePrimerDreamer--each season was $27.99. Six seasons. The season they were out of--the fourth--I wait to find the best price. It will be a while before we get there.

To: Jim T--we too were big fans of the original and we recently bought them. We started watching with our 8 year old daughter and she is enjoying them.

As much as we love the original, TNG is probably a better show, especially after the first season. Some say that DS9 is the best of all Trek related shows--but we could never get into it.

TNG is the best out of all of them...I would recommend you buy all 7 season sets.

Is everyone getting the $27.99 ST:TNG per season deal at Costco or is it just at certain locations? It sounded like it was supposed to be $9 off $45 on each season rather than $18 off each.

Fry's had all the ST:TNG seasons for $29.99 each not that long ago, so anything higher than that is not that great of a deal. I am tempted at $27.99, but I think I need $19.99 each to buy them (because I'm not a TNG fan... I've watched a few episodes and they seem OK, but I've never seen enough good episodes to know what I'm missing which makes it easy to pass on them until they are cheaper).

I suppose if they are really $27.99 per season, I could buy the first 2 seasons and see if I like them.

TNG finds itself after the early seasons in my opinion, but I guess that's for most series so watching the first two seasons may not completely show you the whole series' flavor. But yeah, for a moment there I thought Costco was selling for $18.99! With The Original Series being done up with new CGI and a HD treatment, I wonder if they're going to put the shows in an HD treatment down the line, and thus the reason for all the prices going down...

Got my math wrong. They were $26.99 per season. They should have been, if they followed the offer correctly, $36.99.

Just hit a local Costco today -- Tuesday -- and was disappointed. No Bogart Volume 2 set, which I was looking for. It'll probably show up eventually, though.

I've been waiting to get the rest of DS9. I have Season 1 and 2 from a used store last year at about $50 each. I'm one of the people that thinks DS9 was the best of the series but never got to see the last 2 seasons when they were on TV. I already have all of STNG and only Season 1 STOS. I have no Voyager or Enterprise but would get them if they show up cheap. I remember I could have gotten all of Voyager for $200 (about $28 each) and kick myself for not doing it but didn't have the budget for it at the time.

Sorry to hear that but you saved me a trip. Hopefully it will turn up next week. I saw it at Tower Records. They are all slim case . Maltese Falcon set is in 2 slim cases one has a single disk the other 2 discs. Volume one is a mixture. Casablanca and Treasure of Sierra Madre are in their existing packages, the others are slim case.

Did you happen to notice any prices on new releases?

The new single releases were what we've come to expect from Costco -- between $18 & $19, surely no bargain.
