The Best Buy Bucks aren't going to be the same though, so it won't be worth it as much. They only have the $1 and $5, with the $5 being one in every 12.

I remember reading about this last year but didn't really understand the procedure. Can someone run down what one needs to do? Thanks a lot!

Go to McDonald's.

Eat food.

Peel off stamps.

Redeem stamps via mail and at Best Buy.

Grow chubby (optional).

Get frustrated when you try to redeem stamps and Best Buy tells you that the fine print says you can only use $3 of your $5 stamp on that CD you want to buy, so you have to go find something else to purchase to use the other $2.

Get frustrated when you try to redeem stamps and asshats at Best Buy make up rules on the spot (you can't use the stamps at all on a $10 pre-order of a video game).

With the price of postage, if their odds are accurate (1 out of 12 Best Buy Bucks is for $5), it'd come out to about a 42% discount on anything purchased with them. Of course, you can only 1) use $3 at a time on a cd, dvd or boxset 2) redeem a maximum of $200 in a day, and 3) use the coupons towards 'approved merchandise' which does not include video game hardware.

I believe you can't use the stamps on sale CDs as well. I was hit by that stupid rule last year.

I seriously doubt it. They use the whole 'valid on regular priced items only' language to shoot that down. Somewhere in the country, there might be a cashier that lets it slide, but I certainly wouldn't count on it.

I just hope I remember to use mine this year. It seems I always get a bunch, stash them in my wallet, and forget to use them when I go to Best Buy. Then when I finally remember, they've expired....

Thankfully, eating the food is NOT a requirement! Last year I got screwed. I received more rejected envelopes than ones that got stamps... 6 out of 20 submissions is all I received! This year I will NOT get screwed over!!!

Last year I hand-wrote everything. Can you use return address labels on the SASE? I notice this year they are specifically stating your return address must also be on the envelope, so that would mean 3 addresses to write for each submission. That's a lot...

Last year, IIRC, they didn't put the hand written requirement in the rules. Some people tried it out (I was too chicken) and didn't have a problem with preprinted labels. The year prior, the hand written requirement was in there so you really didn't have a choice.

I'm going to do hand writting anyways, so I don't lose 78 cents for postage by getting rejected. It's not a big deal....watch Tivo while scribbling on envelopes. The kids love getting the return envelopes and peeling/sorting the game pieces.

Now off to read the fine print before I start on my envelopes.

according to the rules they have online (so far), it doesn't say anything about hand-written envelopes ... it only says "postage-paid, printed, SASE.

Since it doesn't say "hand-printed", I should be able to use my stamps.com account and print the envelopes (with postage) directly from my PC.

So what's with all the mailing? Can you avoid eating at McDonalds altogether. Last year I remember getting coupons from food at McDonalds but what is in it for sending in requests. I'm sorry, I'm just confused by this. Thanks.

Because you get more game pieces than you could ever possibly eat (or want to). You're paying 78 cents to get a $1 or $5 BB cert, plus potentially free food as well. So you're guaranteed to save money at best buy. If you send in for 100 of them, you're paying $78.00. Based on the distribution of $1 vs. $5 stamps, you'll get 8 $5 ones and 92 $1 ones. Thus, $132 for your $78 spent. Thus, 41% off. Could be more, could be less, based on the actual number of $5 stamps received, but you're guaranteed to save 22% even if you have the worst luck in the world...
