Wii need a name change??

First off, if this has been posted, then I'm a dumbass...

Another name change for the Wii?!
Although it was not too long since codename Revolution was renamed to Wii, there are some rumors that if might undergo another name change in the following months. According to a source inside Nintendo, the negative reaction of the community and marketing strategies are the causes of that possible name change.

We have received over 200,000 e-mails with complaints about the Wii, and the console name has been commonly associated with urine. We have been the target of many jokes, and we strongly believe that it's a bad thing for the company's reputation", says Mike, who works at the marketing department of Nintendo.

Mike also adds that people are not taking this new console very seriously. In a recent poll, they found that 62% of gamers think "Wii" sounds childish, and 49% said they wouldn't buy the console judging only by its name. The upcoming Nintendo console features an innovative controller, excellent graphic systems and internet connectivity.

Some of the suggested names are: Nintendo GameZone, Nintendo FutureNation and Nintendo GlobalBOX. Nintendo denies this possible name change.

This has to be an Onion article, especially since FutureNation and GlobalBOX sound like rip-offs of Playstation and Xbox. I would take this article with a 2 ton grain of salt.

While the name did bother me for a while, I've grown to accept it.

I doubt they'd change the name now, especially with the whole Wii/Mii thing. Given the choice though, I'd prefer Nintendo Revolution.

Just sayin'.

Revolution is a much more marketable name IMO.

Either that or Super #1 Lucky Amusement Enclosure.

Well, Wii're not going to get one. First of all, because this "news" is obvious BS made up by some videogame blog. But mainly because it ships in about two months, the Wii name is already plastered all over everything, and it's too late to change it now.

I have no problem with the name, but with how immature the majority of gamers are(i.e raised on Playstation) I can absolutely believe those numbers.

I don't think a rename is in the cards. I don't mind Wii, but Revolution was way better.

while i did like the name "Revolution" i guess Wii is ok. Names dont really bother me unless they somehow are able to effect gameplay. The only thing I really care about is that once it comes out will I be able to get a Yellow Wii? :-)

I really like Revolution for a name, but from what I heard the name didn't translate well in other countries and N wanted the name to be the same globally.

I don't care for Wii but the name doesn't really matter. Call it penis and I'd still buy it.

Wii is fine, considering if it is going to have a small footprint, it just makes more sense.

Mine will be called a Revolution, if I have to remove the label and put my own on so be it.
