Sara Gilbert to Join "The Class"

Sitcom vet Sara Gilbert has signed on to star in several episodes of CBS' frosh laffer "The Class."

The "Roseanne" alum, last seen in short-lived WB laffer "Twins," will play Fern, a character who pops up from Richie's (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) past. Gilbert has inked for a multi-episode arc on the show, which bows Sept. 18.

Gilbert's other recent credits include Lifetime's "Strong Medicine" as well as recurring roles on "ER" and "24."

"The Class," from Warner Bros. TV, revolves around young adults who reunite 20 years after meeting in their third-grade classroom. Jason Ritter, Lucy Punch, Heather Goldenhersh, Andrea Anders, Jon Bernthal, Sean Maguire, Lizzy Kaplan, Sam Harris and David Keith also star."

Isn't she a great addition to the cast! I think this is a really good move on the part of this show! I am looking forward to seeing what her character is going to be like.

I can't stand Sara Gilbert. Let's rename this show "Cancelled", and save everyone some time.

You have some great oneliners.

I do agree. This has cancelled written all over it. The magic number is 4-6 primary cast members for a comedy folks.

I disagree. First, she is only signed on for a number of shows, so she is not going to be a regular on the cast, and second you always had other "characters" on shows like Friends that made appearances over several shows that people seemed to like. So, the number thing doesn't worry me.

but i am thinking, why would they need such a high profile guest so early if it didn't need help?

Um, we ain't talkin' about DeNiro, Pacino, or Nicholson here. Let's keep it in perspective... we're talkin' about the uglier of the two Rosanne daughters.

well, it may be since the majority of the cast is not too well known, and this may bring in more viewers who are familiar with gilbert. plus, i am not sure she is going to jump in right at the beginning but rather a little later on...i don't think it took shows like friends too long to have guest stars on, either.
