What did you think was the best DVD of August 2006?
Not only the best film released on DVD, but the best overall presentation... film, video, audio, extras, etc.

I'll have to go with APOCALYPSE NOW: The Complete Dossier, especially if you were lucky enough to get the Circuit City exclusive bonus DVD like me. A lot of amazing stuff across those three discs...

V For Vendetta is my choice. Close behind was the Fish Called Wanda CE (of course you had to be one of the lucky ones to get it from Amazon). Other very good releases included the SEs of Romancing the Stone, Jewel of the Nile, Pretty In Pink & Some Kind of Wonderful.

Far and away, my favorite release of August is Rohmer's "Six Moral Tales" from Criterion, though I guess I boxset might not count in this poll.
For single disc releases, I'd go with either "Double Indemnity" from Warner Brothers, or "Funeral Parade of Roses." from Eureka's Masters of Cinema line.

1. Double Indemnity
2. The Tick vs. Season Two
Both have been holy grail releases for me for years. Tick could look a little better, and I wish there were extras, but it's great to have the first season, nonetheless.

My vote:
Double Indemnity: Legacy Collection
Honorable mentions:
Apocalypse Now: The Complete Dossier (with the aforementioned Circuit City bonus disc...which should have been part of the set for everyone!)
Eric Rohmer's Six Moral Tales: Criterion Collection
The Girls Next Door: Season One
House, M.D.: Season Two
Jayne Mansfield Collection
South Park: The Complete Eighth Season

Eric Rohmer's Six Moral Tales: CC
Honorable Mention for Double Indemnity
I enjoyed the first disc of Double Indemnity, but it really only needed to be a one disc release. The second disc was a complete throwaway. The tv movie was horrendous, but I guess it does re-emphasize how great the original is.
