David Brent returns!

Ricky Gervais reprises The Office's David Brent and Stephen Merchant asks the questions in these two videos for Microsoft UK.

Part 1

Part 2

"Prison works"

Is Gervais just really short or is Merchant freakishly tall?

Pretty cool, thanks for posting this. Really makes me wish this character was still active. I'm prettu sure that Ricky Gervais is around 5'8", 5'10" or so.

Stephen Merchant is like 6 foot 11 or something. Check him out in the Comic Relief Day episode when he plays the part of Garreth's friend the Oggmonster.

Sort of and yes(6'7"). It really is hilarious to see them together.

My cheeks are sore from laughing at the outtakes at the end.

Very cool to see this stuff!

Stephen Merchant was hilarious as Oggmonster. "Hey mate, I didn't call you fatty, I didn't call you WHALEman!"

Awesome find.

Where was this meant to air in the first place?

They weren't intended to air at all. They were produced for private MS showings only. I'm surprised they are still up at google video at all. Usually the contracts for these things prohibit public showings, since the talent is paid for a private video. Garvais and Merchant probably didn't sign full release forms for the work either.

This is like getting an extra episode of the Office. I loved every piece of advice Gervais had towards MS employees. Look for other jobs on company time. Don't share your ideas, instead start up a rival company and compete. It was simply hilarious.

Anyone who loves these guys definitely needs to check out the Ricky Gervais podcasts. There are like 18 of them and every one is classic. The show is based around a guy named Karl Pilkington who Ricky and Steve use as a human punching bag because of his idiotic views on life. Also check out Extras which is moderately funny but doesn't touch the Office.

The podcasts are simply incredible. I can't help but think it's staged, but even if it is, it's the funniest "radio show" I've ever heard. Extras uses a similar formula, since Gervais's on-screen friend is not very bright, but it seems to work very well. I love everything they do.

Yeah it's a gag they worked out but it's funny as hell. Karl Pilkington was a producer at the BBC so he couldn't be that stupid. The cool part is he stays in character and I've never heard him crack up once. He's created his own cottage industry with that show.

The best part of Extras is when Steve Merchant is on playing his incompetent manager.

I went ahead and downloaded the two videos from Google, even before I heard about how they weren't meant to even get out.

I don't see how they even thought that something like this wouldn't get out. This is something that needed to be released.
