What are some great foreign tv shows?
So I've been getting into a lot of non-us shows lately
with shows like
spaced
office space
life on mars
and then recently got into
city of men
what are some other good foreign shows?
and anime doesn't count.

Agree about Spooks.
There is already an exhaustive list of great BBC shows in the international forum.

Unfortunately I'm mainly just familiar w/ UK shows.
Spooks - good spy show
Ultimate Force - SAS action series
Black Books - GREAT comedy (R1 versions are coming out now too)
Foyle's War - mystery set in WW2
Enemy at the Door/Island at War - 2 different series about the channel islands (German occupied UK islands during WW2)
Second Sight - Interesting mystery about a dective who is losing his eyesight (stars Clive Owen)
Space - amusing comedy from the people who did Shawn of the Dead
Danger 50,000 Volts - Nick Frost from SotD and Spaced has a "what to do in an emergency" type of show. They are usually pretty amusing
Some others that are usually recommended but I couldn't really get into
Black Adder - I liked some of the sets but not all of them
Cracker - stars Robbie Coltrane but it never really appealed to me
One that looks interesting but is too expensive to try in R2/not released in R1 is Survivors

Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares - or something like that. Same guy from Hell's Kitchen but a lot less yelling and "donkey." He takes a failing restaurant and tries to turn it around.

Epitafios from HBO Latino is excellent.
Slings & Arrows from Canada is two seasons (that I've seen so far) of wonderful.
I'm also a big MI-5 fan, and recommend that the first three seasons be watched on DVD, without the big chunks cut out of the US TV broadcasts.
