So I just started watching 24

I've always wanted to watch this show. Since the first season I always was curious about it but different reasons I never could do it.

In these five seasons I've read about the show, saw some programs about it in TV, so I know some things about what happens in general in the show, who dies, who lives, etc.

So, this summer, finally, I started watching 24 season one. I thought that I could get dissapointed but no way. I enjoyed it a lot. Of course I hated the wife and daughter. I also hated the president's wife, and the season finale was a kinda of shocker, althought I already knew "the most important thing" about that.

I'm in the middle of season two, I'm again hating Kim Bauer a lot, she's the dumbest character in television history.
Spoiler:
I know that she'll die, I don't know if this season or in season three or four so that's something I'm really waiting for.

I know that today Jack Bauer is really famous because the way he tortures terrorists, and I've just seen a glimpse of that in season two, nothing of that in season one. So I guess the rest of season two and season three and four show more of that. I'm really looking for that

I expect to finish season five this year so I can be ready for January and start watching season six "live".

In my opinion, season 1 was the best and then it all went down hill from there. Season 4 was getting so ridicuolous I had to stop watching it.

Um, sorry to burst your bubble. But you're gonna be very disappointed when you finish Season 5 and your spoiler has not come to pass...

Kim's "arc" in Season 2 is pathetic. The panty and nipple shots were nice, but otherwise she contributed nothing to the storyline. I don't really know how to address your spoiler other than to say don't get too excited.

Season 4 was so absurd it made Die Hard 2 look plausible, but it was a lot of fun. And it did lay some of the groundwork for Season 5 which was outstanding.

Yeah, the seasons tend to get crazier and crazier, but I still absolutely love them. Just don't worry about realism and you'll be set!

As much as I liked season 2, I just cannot fathom how any writer could think that Kim's story arc was even remotely decent and worth doing.

Spoiler:
so it's only the wife the one that dies?
Is her role then reduced?

I mean in season three and four are we going to spend time with a "Kim situation". I don't recall hearing about her in season five.

And yeah, I've heard about things going ridicuolos in the next seasons. But I've also read a lot of people saying that season five was the best ever. So I'll see how I enjoy season three and four. I can say that season two has been as good as season one except for the Kim's part.

Oh and I like Prison Break a lot, so realism it's not big problem in 24.

(It was funny seeing the koreand guy from Lost here)

If you want to know what happens with Kim
Spoiler:
She is in seasons 1-3, not in season 4 at all and makes an appearance for a few episoded in season 5.

I really liked season 5. 4 wasn't all that good, but not as bad as 2.

Good to hear that season 2 is the worst since I'm really enjoying it. So I won't get bored with the rest of the seasons.

I loved s2, and I hated most of S3 (up entil that last 3rd or so). Thought 4 was fun. Liked 5 alot. S1 is still the best though.

If you're really enjoying the show now, do yourself a favor and stop at the end of season 2. The show became unbelievably bad, and went from being the best show on television to being one of the worst. The last 2 seasons were basically just rehashes of previous seasons that were then dumbed down for the general public. Please do yourself a favor and act like seasons 3 - 5 never happened.

It's gonna be tough for him to stop at the end of Season 2 given how it ends. Maybe he should play the video game and then stop there.

If he stops after 2, then he can't be caught up for S6 like he said he wanted to be.

I honestly can't rank the seasons. Each of them had awesome, spectacular moments. I would say the best ones are 2-5. I really didn't like Season 1 that much, but I started with Season 2.

I really dug season 3 actually. In fact, I think all the seasons have great moments. Season 5 was definately the best since the start of the series though.

Hardly. It's the most entertaining out of 1-4 (haven't seen 5). The best as far as the main story goes is probably season 1.

I just finished season 2.

I think the first half was really good but it went down after the bomb exploded. Again, the Kim Bauer story was one of the worst in tv history. I don't expect anything worse than that in the next seasons.

About the season finale, is it the same for every season finale? that's linked to the next season? Before I started watching 24 I expected a movie of 24 episodes where everything ends at the season finale. Of course I was expecting some ties between season but not that strong.

Spoiler:
I know that season 3 is about a virus, or something like that, and season 4 about a nuclear device again. Knowing that, I don't know how that's related to the oil companies, I mean the virus threat.

It NEVER gets more ridiculous than the first season when the mom loses her memory. People who complain about it being too silly later on have a strange memory. Maybe they lost theirs in a car crash.

Yes, that is at the bottom, but she is a minor character in a side plot that only lasted a few episodes. Season 4 and the "nuclear football" provided us with 24 solid ours of silliness in the main plot of the show.

I watched Season 1 recently for the first time, and loved it as well. My mother bought all the seasons released on DVD, so I will watch them eventually. It just takes such a big commitment to watch 24, I really can't watch anythign else, at least for season 1 we got it done in a few days. I am just not ready to commit to 24 again so soon, instead I Will catch up on a few movies then once there is nothing out there I will watch the remaining seasons.

Sort of like the way you view season four?

Was that ridiculous? Of course. But I don't think it's as bad as the US threatening to start World War III only a few hours after averting a terrorist attack(and removing a sitting President from office no less). Or a virus that wipes people out in 2 hours. Or a device that can melt down nuclear power plants from a remote location. Or a stealth bomber that can fly undetected by radar despite having its own radar system. Or nerve gas that won't affect you as long as you hold your breath.

It's called suspension of disbelief. And you'll never make it through an entire season of 24 without it.
