Yeah, when I saw WTC there weren't many people in the theatre. Most were older folk as well. I wouldn't expect the movie to be too big.

I didn't even know it came out on a Wednesday. Wonder why they wanted to do that. It's certainly not an "event" movie... Are they hoping for good word of mouth to carry them into the weekend?

I also forgot it came out yesterday. A few sites have a 5-day $30 million total for WTC. I'm going to try and watch it this weekend, but I still haven't been able to watch The Descent yet.

I see either Pulse or Ricky Bobby as the number one movie for the week. even thought the movie probably isn't any good (still seeing it tonight though) its PG-13 and a horror movie, so thats my basis. I noticed that Little Miss Sunshine is opening in more theaters this week, hopefully word of mouth will let it go wide eventually.

For 2800 screens, the take for WTC seems low - this one is going to be a hard sell, and with the events that have taken place in London these past two days, I'll bet many people will have had their fill of "terrorism" and will simply avoid this movie.

Think Ricky Bobby may still win this weekend, but nice numbers for Step Up and better than I figured for World Trade Center.

World Trade Center could have been the next Titanic if done right. Doesnt seem like it will happen though. Not too much promotion on this one. the "characters don't seem as interesting as Jack and rose on Titanic.. also not enough tome has passed since the actual event, and with the recent terror plot in london all over the news people may not want to be reminded of this.

I think United 93 already showed us that 9/11 isn't going to equal big money at the box office. It was a well-made movie and it got decent advertising and word-of-mouth, but it still only managed $30 Million.

But WTC is supposed to be more uplifting, isn't it since it involves survivors? Whereas United 93 ended on a downer.

I saw The Descent yesterday and completely loved it. It held pretty well during the 2nd weekend. But this is a movie that I think will have a greater impact on dvd...when Region 1 gets the release of course. Warners has officially pulled the plug on Supes as it now is only on 750 theaters. I think $195 mil is in site. Should sell huge on video though. Little Miss Sunshine could be a breakout hit when it fully expands.

Looks like Pirates of the Caribbean is going to give Titanic a run for its money. It's currently sitting either at #6 or #7 all time box office hits. It just surpassed Revenge of the Sith and is about to edge out Spiderman.

Yeah.. no on that one. Pirates is on it's way out, and still $200m behind in the US and $1.1b ($900m discluding the US) behind on the worldwide market. Titanic can rest easy:

Domestic: $600,788,188 32.6%
+ Foreign: $1,244,246,000 67.4%
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
= Worldwide: $1,845,034,188

....and that's NOT adjusted for inflation.

Pirates will pass Spiderman but that's it. I thought it would have better legs than that but oh well.

I think that if Disney is smart, they will do a limited rerelease "POTC: Dead Man's Chest" a few weeks before they release "POTC: Ends of the Earth" just so that die hard fans will see it again (even though the DVD will be out way before then).

I'd go see it in the theaters again before seeing the 3rd one.

Go to see Ricky Bobby get another #1.
