Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) The Movie SE might be in the works...

Thought I would pass this on...

POSSIBLE NINJA TURTLES SP.ED. DVD-NEW LINE REPLIES!!!!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just received a reply letter from Stephen Einhorn, president of NEW LINE HOME ENTERTAINMENT regarding a new NINJA TURTLES-THE ORIGINAL MOVIE (1990) special edition DVD! It looks promising! His reply:

"Thank you for your recent letter and suggestions regarding a special edition of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES.

In light of the new TURTLES film to be released next year, WE ARE IN FACT EXPLORING THE POSSIBILITY OF AN IMPROVED TRANSFER AND BONUS MATERIALS. The complicated part of assessing these considerations is the cost factor, which could require us to raise the price of a new version of the film in a demographic that is extremely price sensitive. Thank you again for your feedback and concern."

WRITE NEW LINE A PAPER LETTER , CALL THEM TOO, AND LET THEM KNOW YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY EXTRA FOR A SPARKLING NEW TRANSFER AND EXTRAS! With the new film coming out, THIS IS OUR BEST CHANCE TO GET THE ULTIMATE EDITION OF THIS FILM FOR DVD AND HD-DVD/BLURAY!!

The address (updated) is:

STEPHEN EINHORN
PRESIDENT-NEW LINE HOME VIDEO

LET'S DO THIS,FOLKS! IT IS WORKING!!!!!!!

My original letter reads as follows:
Dear Mr. Einhorn,

As you probably are already aware, Warner is releasing a new CGI film of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in March 2007. I think this would be a perfect time to release a new 2 disc Special Edition DVD of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-The Original Movie from 1990. Although I have enjoyed your original DVD of the film from 1997, I would really like to buy a new edition of the film with an improved digital video transfer and a bonus disc of extras, including deleted scenes (which I have heard to exist), a commentary with the actors (i.e. Josh Pais-Raphael), documentary, featurettes, trailers/TV spots, etc.

I have greatly enjoyed your Platinum editions of your films and I believe that a new Platinum edition of TMNT-the original movie would sell very well with the new movie coming out next year. It truly put New Line on the map back in 1990 as a serious player and I believe that the film has a cult fan basis with comic book fans. It wasn’t just for kids.

Thank you very much for your time and attention and I look forward to your future
DVD and Hi Def format releases.

Very cool. But did you email then or send through the U.S mail?

Which way did they respond?

Never cared for the sequels, but I always thought that this was a really fun flick. I'd be in for a SE. Actually, this would be a decent initial HD-DVD release from New Line, since they're apparently waiting until early '07 to launch titles.

I really enjoyed the three films but the first was by far the best. It nicely combined the original comic book with elements of the animated series at the time. It was the best of both worlds. I would definitely pick up a SE re-release.

I wonder if they could find the alternate ending and add it as a deleted scene in the special features. Or if we could get that director's cut that was rumoured a few years back.

The alternate ending was April and Danny pitching a TMNT comic idea to the head of Mirage studios and him turing them down because the idea is to "far fetched". As they leave, Mikey pops up at guy's window (unseen by the guy) and exclaims "far fetched?!" and falls back exasperated. It was a cute throwaway scene that could have been put after the end credits.

As for the director's cut, all I recall reading about it was that it featured some scene extensions and little character moments all through the film. Also, it aparently would have featured the scene were Leo establishes himself as their official leader that appeared during the theatrical release but is missing from all video versions. It was during the training session at the farm. Notice that every so often one turtle has the knot of his bandana to the side instead of behind the head. The way it played out was that the other three fight the one wearing the bandana knot to the side. Three-to-one each turtle except Leonardo lost. Therefor he was officialy their leader.

^very cool. I saw this in theaters as a child, but wore more than one vhs tape out in coming years, so that is far gone from memory. It would be nice to see again with fresh eyes.

Sounds great to me. I enjoyed the first and second one, but thought the second one was cooler as a kid b/c of 'that cool rapper guy!!!' and Kino. After watchin em again this past year the first is better, but I'd buy a SE of both.

I hope it also gets a nice HD release as well. The print of the first film was always rather grimey but it wouldn't hurt to see it in HD.

Yah, i think it will either hit when the new film does, or they will wait to see if the new film is a financial success

looks slim that this will be out for the theatrical release of the new movie. Looks like voting will be taken with ticket sales, so get to the theaters and see that new toon.
