I have an idea for the packaging : A two disc digipack with two flaps, each resembling a buttock. the set is folded shut with the two buttock held together with a set of lips concealing a Velcro closure.

It's a long shot, but I hope they put Billy Joel on the Icons set.

If they put the full interviews on there, I'd be willing to buy these individually. Otherwise, they'll need season sets to make it worth it.

The long-running Bravo TV series “Inside the Actor’s Studio” is coming to DVD. The first release will be Dave Chappelle’s notorious appearance in which he explained why he ditched his popular Comedy Central show and fled to Africa.

Inside the Actor’s Studio: Dave Chappelle ($14.98) will be released Nov. 7 by Shout Factory. Out the same day is Inside the Actor’s Studio: Icons ($39.98), a three-DVD set with four episodes in which host James Lipton interviews Clint Eastwood, Paul Newman, Robert Redford and Barbra Streisand.

The two titles are part of a deal to launch a video collection of the series between Shout Factory and partners NBC Universal Television Distribution and Actor’s Studio Inc.

Shout Factory president Garson Foos said plans call for the company to release subsequent episodes over the coming years, both as single-disc editions with one interview each and in themed collections of four episodes.

In addition to the complete broadcast episodes, all DVDs in the series will include previously unseen segments, extended interviews and new introductions by Lipton.

The host said that spending up to five hours on stage with his guests leads to “invaluable revelations and emotional moments” often left on the cutting room floor.

“We’re always promising ourselves that when the series is released on home video, these memorable happenings will be restored to the public record,” he said.

From dvdactive.com:

Title: Inside the Actors Studio (IMDb)
Starring: N/A (Interviews)
Released: 7th November 2006
SRP: $14.98 & $39.98

Further Details:
Shout! Factory, Actors Studio Inc, and NBC Universal Television Distribution have announced two Inside the Actor Studio releases: Inside the Actors Studio: Icons and Inside the Actors Studio: Dave Chappelle. These titles are the first in what appears to be a series of releases based on the long-running Bravo show presented by James Lipton, where "guests can speak fearlessly, openly and honestly about the things that matter most to them: their craft and the crucial events of their lives and careers."

The Icons three-disc collection will contain four episodes featuring: Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Clint Eastwood and Barbra Streisand, with additional features including new introductions by Jame Lipton and deleted sequences from the interviews. This collection will retail for $39.98. The Emmy-nominated Dave Chappelle interview will be available on a single disc with the same sort of extras as the other collection, and has a price tag of $14.98.

Question...

I picked up one version of this today. It was the Al Pacino 2 hour special from a local video store. It's totally legit and produced by Bravo. They also had the Dustin Hoffman special. Anyone seen these? They must be promos.

So will any of you be picking these up? Is it worth it to go ahead, or could there be season sets in the future?

I'm curious if they're going to keep the bleeps of the actors' favorite curse word.

Oh well. Too bad they couldn't offer a second unbleeped audio channel.
