Does anyone still have a MovieCD collection?
In the late 1990s, just before DVD got really started there was movies on CDs that you watched on your PC. The quality was poor, like VHS but it came on a nice CD or two. A company called SIRIUS had a collection that held their own player with each movie. They were mostly B movies but some good stuff could be found. I remember when CompUSA started clearing them out when DVDs started to get popular. I still have, in CD form, Star Wars, Crying Freeman, and some Computer Animation short films. Did you get rid of your CDs when you started collecting DVD or did you never have movies on CDs? I just want to know if they ended up in Flea markets or Ebay or are collecting dust somewhere?

I think I picked up a few of these for like 99 cents or something. I know I had a Dr Katz one, but honestly don't know where they are at anymore. They are not in with my old Video CDs for my Phillips CD-i.

Are you talking VCD? Video CD - its roughyl VHS-quality video on a CD. They are still very popular in Asia even today. Most DVD players will play VCDs and even some of their more exotics variants like SVCD (super-vcd), XVCD, etc.

I think Movie CD's (which also were released on CD), were different than VCD's. I still have some VCD's, but, over time, have replaced almost all of them. They all were Hong Kong movies - except for the ones that I captured from TV and burnt myself.

Then there were Chestnut's MPEG movie CDs. These weren't VCDs either.

My Star Wars and Crying Freeman are VCDs. On MovieCD I have some of Sony 'Minds Eye' collection and cartoons. Have not touched them in 5 years, at least.
