What was your anticipated trifecta for '06

My Trifecta:

V for Vendetta
A Scanner Darkly
Pan’s Labrynth

I am pleased that my three most anticipated movies have been so well placed out. I must deign to not be slain before 12/29/06. (Now, if they could make a good Nemesis The Warlock or Rogue Trooper movie to make up for the sheer betrayal of Judge Dredd I can fit comfortably into my casket.)

Unexpectedly (to me), Superman Returns turned my head and made it a quadifecta.

Superman Returns
The Departed
Casino Royale

Superman Returns lived up to my high expectations. I'm hoping the other 2 do as well. Flags of Our Fathers would probably be my 4th on the list.

By release date:

1. Scoop
2. The Departed
3. Running With Scissors

Haven't really seen anything that blew my mind as of right now (although United 93 was pretty good).

Top 3 Most Anticipated 2006 flicks:

1. The Prestige
2. V for Vendetta
3. Lady in the Water

Honorable mention for Fearless, Mission Impossible III, and The Da Vinci Code. Superman Returns was a head-turning surprise for me as well - and definitely impressed me countless times more than The Da Vinci Code.

1. A Scanner Darkly
2. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
3. Cars

The Departed would be number 4 and Fast Food Nation is 5.

There's always movies every year that I don't anticipate that wind up being my favorite. I can't wait to find out what they are this year. V for Vendetta was the first surprise.

V for Vendetta (Loved it)
X3 (Loved it)
Superman Returns (It was okay)

Hmm...guess I should work on a second half trifecta now that they all came out.

In chronological order:

1. A Scanner Darkly
2. The Fountain
3. Tideland

Just saw A Scanner Darkly yesterday and liked it a lot. Not sure if Tideland is going to get domestic distribution this year, although it's been released in other parts of the world. Of course there are scores more films that I'm looking forward to seeing, but these are/were the three tops.

cheers,

-the Jesus

Holy Shiite! (there's a contract out on me now.) I forgot about the Fountain! (I don't even feel like looking up the term for five- is it quinta?)

I'm there as well.

My triad: Cars
Snakes on a Plane
Casino Royale (Pan's Labyrinth is a runner-up)
Anyone notice that the winter lineup is looking a bit thin this year, except for Bond and a few interesting dramas?

I was just commenting today to my brother that there doesn't appear to be any major event movies for this Holiday season.

Oh I think the Winter movies will turn up. There's always good stuff that pops up that you don't hear about in the Summer.

I would have added Zodiac to my list, but I believe that one is definitely pushed back to early '07, which really sucks.

I'm gonna have to go mainstream and say:

1. Da Vinci Code
2. Xmen 3
3. Notorious Betty Page/Superman 2

I do not like M. Night Shyamalan or any of his movies so Lady In the Water is an absolute last place, I woudl rather see mother f*cking snakes on a plain, or wayans playing a ridicolous character. Seriously how could anyone go see these movies? Sorry bout the rant.

Ultraviolet - I liked it, but I am in the great minority
Silent Hill - I was a bit disappointed, but I want more films like this
Marie Antoinette - haven't seen it yet

The Fountain - didn't think it was going to come out this year
The Departed - probably the only remake of Roy Lee I'll ever like, but we'll see
