I'm not sure why they're writing this now -- pretty much everyone from Marc Cherry on down agrees that Season Two failed to come even close to Season One. This is just kicking the show when it's down.

In the interest of balance, I hope there's an upcoming article skewering the 7th season of Petticoat Junction.

Season two was a bit of a downer from season one, but still far better than a lot of other TV shows on the air. I'd rather watch season two of this series again than most other TV series from last year. I am not saying it could have been better, as it could have been A LOT better, but for what we got...it was OK, and I only hope season three is better.

It's funny how this statement or something similar pops up in almost every thread every week no matter which show.

I think season 2 kinda sucked - especially compared to season 1, and I don't think it was better than most other shows. There were a lot of great shows this season.

Bashing DH is the hot thing. Would the writer bash the second season of VERONICA MARS or the third season of RESCUE ME? Of course not. It's the "in" thing to praise those shows or to make up excuses for why certain things do not work. The second season of DH was a disappointment, but I was much more distressed by VM's subpar second season.

I didnt care for the second season of Desperate Housewives not because it was the "IN" thing to do or because I read an article, but because it was nowhere near as good or original or as Beautifully written as the first season which was a gem. The Satire was almost gone and the characters became boring. I checked out of the show about 10 episodes in.

I also stopped watching around the halfway point. I was not suggesting that someone can not like the show or that someone isn't liking it because it's on the out list. I just feel the relentless bashing of the show is the "in" thing to do. Other shows had rocky if not rockier seasons and the criticism was never as fervent or as continuous. Critics often excuse the problems with these other shows, but pile it on thick in terms of DH.

I watched the whole season, mainly hoping that the storylines would have a great payoff (a la Season 1)... but now wish I had bailed out about 1/2 way through.

And Alfre Woodard getting an Emmy nomination for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series? WTF??? Her character was not the least bit funny, and her character's storyline was the absolute worst thing about Season 2!! Just an absolutely mindboggling nomination.
