Tales of the Gold Monkey?
Was just thinking about this show...one of my favorites from my childhood.
Has it ever been legitimately released on DVD? eBay has a ton of copies for auction, but I can't find any info to indicate that they're legit releases.

Ohhh, that would be a good one. If we could only get it around the same time as Young Indiana Jones, it would be a good time indeed. And if Wizards and Warriors made it to DVD, then all the better.

I have a strong feeling that my memories of this show are a LOT better than the actual show.
Anyway, no... the eBay copies are not legit. But if Indy 4 becomes a reality ever, it would probably be a good time for someone to put this out. I could picture Anchor Bay putting together a pretty nice package.

As corny as this series would probably seem to today's more "sophisticated" (and take that with a grain of salt!) audiences, I will say that this series had one of the best THEME SONGS of all time...I'm humming it as I type...

Is this worth a blind buy? I never heard of the show. From clips on youtube, it looks extremely low budget and cheesy, but I love movies set in the Amazon.

I remember it would air around 10pm in the early 80's when I was a kid but I don't remember much about the show.

Re: Tales of the Gold Monkey?
Cheesy indeed, but a fun send up of the Indiana Jones style adventure. Set in the South Pacific, not the Amazon. From the producer of Magnum PI. I got the box and so far have just watched the pilot, with the weird baboon like monkeys and John Hillerman (Higgins of Magnum) as a dumpy, slow moving, unscary Gestapo agent. Only thing not to like is the murky sound; a lot of dialog is hard to understand and no subtitles. I wouldn't recommend a blind buy, but if you remember the show fondly give it a shot.
