Favorite TV Show vs. Best TV Show
I was watching 'Six Feet Under' today and I kept thinking about how it was the best television show that I ever watched, but how it wasn't my favorite (top 5, but not favorite) and I realized that a person can have a 'favorite' and what they consider 'the best.'
So I am just wondering what other people think of as 'the best' television series, as well as their favorite... and please use show that have officially ended, becuase show's still in production are still telling their story.
Favorite: 'Angel'
Best: 'Six Feet Under'

favorite: 24
best: 24
even though the show is still on, it's always gonna be the best and my favorite
its kinda hard to differenciate between favorite and best, b/c at least for me, the shows that i think are best and like the most are going to be my favorite

I guess having favorites vs. best shows isn't very different after all.
Like most here, they are one and the same:
ANGEL and DS9.
From a 'favorite' standpoint, I love the characters, the events, and genuinely care about what happens. They are the 'best' to me because I find that they are VERY well-written, acted, and are even cinematic in production quality. Visual effects and sound are first-rate, and both shows have a sense of integrity.

my current favorite is Deadwood. I'd probably consider M*A*S*H to be the best overall.
Once Deadwood and The Shield are officially done, then they might move into the best ever category, but it wouldn't be fair for me to make that judgement until their run is over.

DVD Talk Legend
My favorite's probably Classic Star Trek, but I've been watching a lot of M*A*S*H lately and there are so few true clunkers. I just saw the one where Hawkeye gave Margaret a hepatitis vaccine in the hindquarters and that whole bit is just classic.

Bingo! Now I am just talking about Sitcoms here.
Although my other favorite shows of all-time:
-King of Queens
-Three's Company
-Coach
None of them rank in the top shows of all-time, cause All in the Family is #2, and The Honeymooners is #3, and Cheers is #4, behind Seinfeld.

Favorite - Firefly - Cut too short......
Best - Buffy/Angel
Honorable Mention - Alias (Season 1 only). The pilot episode itself is some of the best paced TV ever IMHO.
