Gin Blossoms "Major Lodge Victory" 8/8

Alright well I have no idea if anyone cares, but hopefully someone does.

The Gin Blossoms have a new album out for the first time in over ten years, having reunited after a series of side projects. I enjoyed their mostly radio-friendly southern alt-rock back in the 90s, and if the first single, "Learning The Hard Way", is any indication, they seem to be back to form.

Looking forward to picking this up next month.

Unless they either resurrect Doug Hopkins, or they found a bunch of unpublished songs of his, this will probably suck. He was the only decent songwriter in the band.

30 sec clips of all the new songs can be found on:

Strong list of songs, no real fillers. Looks like a winner.

I'm 32 and just started dating this girl that's 23. We were watching the local news the other night and they said something about a "well-known band" playing in the area. It was the Gin Blossoms. She said "They must not be too well-known, I've never heard of them." Ouch.

I'm 26 and I know them well. She must have just missed them.

By the way, they had a couple good songs that Doug didn't write. One of their biggest hits "Til I Hear It From You" and a couple off their second album.

Whatever. I missed them when they played at Six Flags Great Adventure last summer. Saw Vanessa Carlton instead. Not the same at all.

that is funny. I might check out this album, but I would have to hear a couple songs first.

Well, "Til I Hear It From You" was cowritten with Marshall Crenshaw, an outside writer who was chosen in an attempt to emulate Hopkins.
