Autographed DVDs?

I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with mailing DVDs to celebrities requesting their autograph on them. I'd be wary of sending any expensive DVDs but I wasn't sure if anyone has done this before?

From all the pictures I've seen here, it's the case that's autographed. Why not send out 100 empty cases and see what you get signed? Slip in whatever movie you want, no one will know the difference.

I always get the cover insert signed, not the case.

I only have an autographed John Waters DVD and all of the autographed Mike Nelson ones and all are signed on the cover insert and not the case.

When I got my SCTV volume 1 signed by Dave Thomas, I took only the empty case, and left the DVDs at home, as I didn't want them to be damaged in the car as it was nearly 100º that day, and the case had to be in the car for a while.

I never heard of mailing off DVDs to get them signed. Who offers to do that? Wouldn't it just be better to mail the DVD artwork, and not the case and DVD itself?

I apologize, I do mean the cover art. That's a good idea just sending that.

I wouldn't send the cover art to be signed. There's no guarantee you'll get it back. Plus, if you do get it back, you never know if that person's assistant signed it or what.

There's a thread called "Sign My DVD" where there are tips on getting DVDs signed.

I always make sure to get the art itself signed, so that way, it'll stay forever.

I have gotten signed:

APOCALYPSE NOW - Walter Murch
GHOST WORLD - Illeana Douglas
HEIGHTS - George Segal
SPIDER-MAN 2 - James Franco
STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT - Alfre Woodard
TARNATION - Jonathan Caouette
