CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER [House Of Flying Daggers 2]

Sony Picks up House Of Flying Daggers: Curse Of The Golden Flower

Our boy Del dropped us a line to let us know that a "House of Flying Daggers" sequel has been picked up by Sony Classics for a North American release. House Of Flying Daggers follow-up "Curse Of The Golden Flower".

The original film was extremely popular so this should be a big hit. No word on when it will release.

Cool. IMO, House of Flying Daggers was a major letdown after seeing the amazing Hero. Hopefully, this will be better.

I'll make sure to cross off MOVIESONLINE.ca as a credible site after this idiotic "reporting" they did. CURSE has NOTHING to do with HOFD whatsoever.

Looks pretty bleh. Hopefully its just a bad trailer. They seem to edit these for US audiences to remind them of other movies(Hero, HOFD, CTHD) so thats why it probably seems so familiar and dull to me. I didn't recognize Yun Fat either until the trailer told me his name twice and several other movies he had been in.

How lame to include Miami Vice in Gong Li's credits? Gimme a fucking break. Why not just fucking add Bulletproff Monk to Chow Yun-Fat's? Stupid stupid stupid. At least add Farewell My Concubine or Memoirs of a Geisha, but Miami Vice? Ugh.

Yeah, I wanna see this anyways. But geez, our marketing group sucks ass.

True, that did look rather naff. At least they could of said Story of Qiu Ju or Farewell My Concubine to go with MOAG. Similarly The Killer, though a superb film, doesnt fit well on Chow's credits. Its the wrong type of film.

I agree, except I think "Memoirs of a Geisha" is a much worse film than "Miami Vice". They should definitely go with "Farewell" and "Raise the Red Lantern" (and maybe "2046").

Well, I dont think most of the American movie public are going to be drawn to a movie with an actress who was in Farewell my Concubine...

Why not? FMC is a period movie that fits in with the tone of the trailer. Might just as well have said CYF is the star of Replacement Killers or Bulletproof Monk

What I find ridiculous is that... if you're gonna pimp a movie, use your own films. Sony has released great films that star Gong Li. Yet they chose to put Miami Vice in her list of credits? At least for contemporary purposes they could have listed MoaG (which won 3 Oscars). There's a long list of other foreign films that MGM/Sony distributed which have also garnered awards which they could have listed. But Miami Vice?

As for Chow, I'm ok with the inclusion of The Killer, but might as well throw Bulletproof Monk or Replacement Killers on there since both are MGM/Sony properties.

Sometimes, I just don't understand our marketing/publicity department. Hell, they should have put Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx in the credits for Stealth, maybe it would have done better.

"Gong Li from "Memoirs of a Geisha" and "Raise the Red Lantern" and "Miami Vice"

I don't get what the whining is about. This isn't mean't to hightlight Gong Li's carreer, it's mean't to put asses into seats. And here you cover drama/romance, art-house and action. Sounds like good marketing to me.
