Well, it's about time! I remember seeing the promo for this on a DVD that was released in 1997.

Will U2 ever release another live CD? The DVD's are great, but I sure as hell can't listen to them in my car.

Yeah. I have this VHS tape and it's a terrific show -- better, I think, than any of the currently available DVDs.

What about the first volume of their videos that they never bothered to release? 1980-1990

I have the laserdisc version of this concert and also the Red Rocks concert. Good to see the Zoo concert being released on DVD. Can still hope for Live at Red Rocks in the future.

Regarding live CDs, it is possibly to rip/convert the DVD audio track to a CD wav file. Once ripped, all you need to do is add some chapter/track stops to the wav file to separate the CD tracks. I've done this with several live DVDs. What's also nice is the ability to trim the chatter between songs or edit out the extended drum solos and such.

Great news - one more VHS tape I can get rid of. This is my favorite incarnation of the band, and the Sydney release is my favorite official live release. I'm glad they decided to remaster the video and add extras - a lot of artists would settle for a simple port over of the original release.

jdslater - I'm pretty sure this was shot in 4:3, so I wouldn't count on a widescreen release.

cheers,

-the Jesus

Great that they're finally getting around to releasing this on DVD, years after most of us had about given up on it. Hopefully it'll be a quality transfer with some decent extras.

Now to keep hope alive of seeing Popmart: Mexico City on DVD one day...

These sound very interesting. Although I hope its not just a bunch of interviews from the "Achtung Baby: the Videos, the Cameos, and a Whole Lot of Interference from ZooTV" VHS tape that I have sitting around somewhere.

Not that I'd mind having that material on DVD either.

I am looking forward to this.

I had a VHS bootleg copy of the Zoo TV show I went to in Detroit, MI. i've since lost it.

I loved the stage setup and the video screens. Can't wait to get this dvd.

U2's 'Zoo' Expands For DVD Debut

Originally released on VHS in 1994, U2's "Zoo TV -- Live From Sydney," will make its DVD debut Sept. 19 via Island/UME. The release will be available both as a single-disc version and a double-disc package with a host of extras.

The main body of the concert includes 23 songs and goes heavy on "Zooropa" album tracks such as "Lemon," "Numb," "Dirty Day" and "Daddy's Gonna Pay for Your Crashed Car" but also features a cover of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love" and vintage favorites such as "New Year's Day," "Angel of Harlem" and "Pride (In the Name of Love)." Throughout, the band performs avid a visual spectacle captured by 28 cameras.

The bonus disc features the previously unreleased songs "Trying To Throw Your Arms Around the World," "Desire," "The Fly" and "Even Better Than the Real Thing," three behind-the-scenes documentaries and even a karaoke version of the Edge-sung "Numb."

As previously reported, U2 will return to live duty Nov. 7 in Brisbane to make up a host of shows postponed last year. An early July email to members of U2.com's paid fan club broke the news that the band was back in the studio, although it is unknown at what point in the process the sessions are.

Great news, U2 have taken their sweet time releasing the older videos but if it lives up to the new ones then its worth it. I agree with the other poster, I'm glad U2 takes their DVDs seriously. What we need next is Red Rocks uncut on DVD. I hope POPmart comes out soon too, because that is the only one I don't have on laserdisc. I cant stand VHS.

First review here:

http://www.u2tour.de/specials/dvd_zo..._review_EN.php

Best news of the entire review: "One of the Easter Eggs is the 24-minute documentary about U2’s history, as originally featured on the 'Achtung Baby - The Videos, the cameos and a whole lot of interference from ZOO TV' video release under the name 'Interference'." Ah, hell yeah! The only reason for holding on to my old "Whole Lot of Interference..." LaserDisc now is the original "running buffalo" version of the "One" video, not yet released on DVD.

Oh, man. Another expensive 2-disc version that won't be cheap anywhere. At least this one really looks like it's worth the extra dough.

Well, it's not that bad at Circuit City, anyway.

Prices for regular / 2-disc sets as follows:
Amazon : $13.99 / $22.99
Deep Discount DVD : $18.19 / $29.32
Best Buy : $12.99 / $24.99
Circuit City : $9.99 / $15.99 (unadvertised price via website)

So it's Circuit City for me. That deluxe version sounds nice.

Thanks for the heads-up. I was going to go to Best Buy to get it, as that was the only store that mentioned the 2 disc set in the sales threads in the Bargains forum. Looks like it'll be Circuit City for me.
