I posted this else where but maybe this is the thread to post.
Is it me or does this season seem stripped down? The town seems smaller and less packed, the cast seems smaller (no Wu yet, where he been?) and the outside seems like a new land. Also, the dialogue seems simpler and less riddle like.
So Cox is playing a gay guy right? I hope thats handled well and not cliched bullshit, as it will easily be well done or kill the series for me.

I don't think the town is "smaller" by any means, i just think these first two episodes have been spent focusing on the political struggle. The dialogue is still kinda tough to follow, but i have no problem watching this show twice and if you have any questions about other characters returning why don't you check the plot description, it might help

Looks like Hearst has both Tolliver AND Al over a barrel...for now...can't wait to see that "heavy hand" come down on Tolliver's snout, if it ever comes. I hate that sonofabitch. Looks like he's getting cowardly, too.
How about Wu's new word..."HO!!"

How historically accurate is this show? If it's been pretty close, anybody care to put in spoilers what happens to Hearst or Al?

So does Doc have lung-cancer or something?
I noticed his voice was off a few episodes ago, and that he'd been speaking less, but yikes, I hope they don't kill him off, he's one of my favorite characters.

More great lines from this week:
EB: Candidly, Richardson, as I imagine you foraging for berries and grubs, and flicking at insects with your sticky tongue, I feel a certain dismay.
Richardson: What are you talking about?
EB: You are to be discharged, fool. As, I suspect in a wink of time, once some stage from a different direction arrives with my replacement, am I.
Richardson: What did we do wrong?
EB: Your error, surprisingly enough, is not to be a grotesque of inconceivable stupidity, but that you are white and male and not repulsively obese. As for my own, I wonder if it lies in an excessive courtesy and eagerness to please.
________________________________________________________________
Trixie: My God, look at Wu. Lost his mind in San Francisco.
Al: You think he married the **********?
Trixie: I’m talking about his suit.
________________________________________________________________
Hearst: Having secured your approval as to my hiring plans, I wonder now if I might elicit the information I came for, which is in regard to Mrs. Ellsworth.
EB: I am abjectly at your disposal.
Hearst: For some time, without the unseemliness of approaching her directly, I have sought without success to generate a connection with Mrs. Ellsworth.
EB: A haughty ****. Formerly weak for dope. Most fundamentally a sexual peccant, though I’m sworn against providing specifics.
Hearst: Now, as it seems of her own volition, Mrs. Ellsworth appoints to meet with me, leading me to wonder what change in her situation prompts her approach.
EB: I will look into that, Sir, vigorously and immediately.
Hearst: You don’t know.
EB: I do not know at present.
Hearst: Just send her up when she gets here.
EB: I can seek the knowledge out. I can pursue it as a first priority.
Hearst: Just send her the fuck up.

Loved Ellsworth in this episode. Acted like a real husband and showed some sack that has been lacking. Great season so far. There hasn't been a minute I haven't enjoyed. Scared about the Doc though. He is one of my favorite characters and one of the only characters who truly looks out for the best of the camp no matter what. Essential if you ask me.

That Hearst is one scary bastard. Definately the best outside "villain" the show has had so far. Major Dad is nailing the role perfectly. This may sound dumb (and make little sense), but I love that this show seems to let actors act. There is always a scene or two (if not whole episodes) that seem worthy of study to me.
Acting School - Semester One - Day One - First Project - Watch Deadwood, you fucking cocksuckers!
