Worst movie in a Quadrilogy?
The Superman vs. Batman thread got me thinking: what is the worst movie in a quadrilogy, and furthermore, why do you think that most movies in a Quadrilogy tend to suck so much?

Obligatory ... Batman and Robin. Love the Batman movie series ... but can't believe that goofy-as-hell suck fest.

Batman & Robin is the worst. I probably hate Lethal Weapon 4 more though. The Batman series was inconsistent starting with part 3 so I wasn't as shocked by the changes made by the forth one.

Alien Resurrection - Had enough good parts to make it okay, but its faults are still glaring. D+
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace - Kind of sad, because I feel like there are chunks of a good movie swimming around in an overall vat of crap. D-/F+
Batman and Robin - The action scenes totally suck, which is tragic because there's not really a storyline here. There's no real connection with the villains this time around, so they have to feed in a Batgirl subplot to give us some sort of plotline. F
Lethal Weapon 4 - Not terrible, just a rehash. C+
The Next Karate Kid - The plot was nonsense-. They deviated TOO far from the tried and true. I would have liked to see her in a tournament of some sort instead of the uncomfortable-to-watch climax. That said, I still enjoy watching this for some reason. C
Rambo IV - Ummm...
Jaws: The Revenge - Ridiculous. But if I ignore the fact it is supposed to be a sequel to one of the greatest movies of all time, I can enjoy it in a "bad horror movie" sort of way. D

If we're going with overall worst 4th entry in a series, Crapman & Robin wins hands down. It's by far the worst flick out of all the ones listed. But I knew going into the theater that it would suck. I didn't know to what degree though(who in their right mind could've been prepared for that debacle?).
But the most disappointing 4th entry in a series is Legal Wreckin "Bore". No, the 3rd one wasn't exactly a great film, but it was still entertaining. LW"Bore" however was just dreadful in almost every aspect. The main cast looked bored and tired(they were definitely getting too old for that sh-t). The script was reportedly being written as they shot the movie, and it showed. Chris Rock was badly miscast. Joe Pesci's presence felt even more forced than in the 3rd one. And Jet Li was sorely underused(he's the lone bright spot in the film).
And don't get me started on the last 10 minutes in the hospital. I bought a ticket to a Lethal Weapon flick and ended up seeing Father of the Bride Part II. Hard to believe this was once a series that featured the main character contemplating suicide. 3 movies later, he's being told a story about Leo's pet frog named Froggy.

Although it's gone beyond "Quadrilogy" status, I have to say:
the MOST DISAPPOINTED I was after watching a Part IV was:
ROCKY IV
Stallone should've taken a note from Babe Ruth and retired on a high note.

Wow. I can't believe Jaws 4 hasn't gotten more votes. Forget about the fact that the plot is so unbelievably laughable, but unless I'm mistaken none of the other choices actually re use footage from the 1st movie of the series and not in a prequel or retelling of the story type of way. I mean Jaws 3 was bad, but Jaws 4 made Jaws 3 look like Jaws 1.

I haven't see a bunch of those, but from the ones I have Batman & Robin takes the cake. It's just amazing how bad this one went. You'd think that someone could have corrected this mess since it was such a big franchise for the studio. But alas no, and it got to print as the mess it is.
