Borders 30% coupon for BR members thru 6/30

Thanks to xorealix and couponcabin for reporting this over at CAG.

You'll have to replace some info in the url. I changed it to include my name and borders rewards number. I don't think it's necessary as it shouldn't mess up with the bar code.

Quite easy to do! I printed out several copies, as Borders clerks are always generous enough to apply a coupon per item.

Mucho gracias! I've been waiting for a new 30% coupon since I've got a personal shopper day to use. Hello, 40% off!

You should be fine, dx23, as long as you cut out the coupon. The name and number appear to be independent.

You can combine these coupons with the personal shopping day?! I didn't know that. I missed out on some good bargains, then, because I kept getting so many of these coupons e-mailed to me every month that I just ignore the other discounts (including the personal shopping days).

I tried to combine a coupon with a personal shopper day, they told me it couldn't be done.

Will Borders reject the coupon if you don't have a member rewards number?

No, 37% off.
(30% off leaves you with 70% of the original price, so 10% off of that is only 7% of the original price)

They lied. (well, more likely they were just ignorant)
Tell them to check with management and if management says so, tell them to check the literature for BR.

Yes.
More accurately, if you do not have a card. But they ARE free.

That would be worth using just to watch the employee freeze at the register. Total brain lock.

I wonder if you can get away with printing a buttload of coupons with longer expiration dates. You could essentially get 30% for a lifetime.

I was wondering when someone would find a way to do this. I knew that coupon had a consistently extending deadline...

That is exactly what I did. I'm printing one or two for each year until the year 2059. By then, I will have enough money that I will not be using this coupon anymore.

I meant to bump this the other day as I was printing out the coupon for the rest of the year. I need to get 2007 going next.

It's easy to change, but people have actually used altered ones? Don't they change the coupon #?

I was thinking the almost same thing. The coupons are pretty much worthless if the coupon code ever changes or is removed from the Borders system. Also, I've got to think that this is something they can keep track of since it's used along with your Borders Rewards card. I used the original coupon the OP posted at my local Borders, but it sounded like it wasn't going through. The cashier didn't say anything about it, though, and manually gave me 30% off the highest-priced item in my purchase (it was a periodical!).

I use the coupon with a 12/31/06 date and it went through without any problems.

Ever since the coupon was posted on SD, I've used this coupon several times, changing the date as I go along, with no problems. The cashier always inputs the code manually because it won't scan.

I printed one for each month but I should have just printed one w/an expiration of 2010 and made multiple copies.

Last weekend I was down to a handful of coupons left from the ones I printed out at the beginning of June. So I went back to the same link and printed more. Tried to use one and was told, "Oh, this is a counterfeit coupon, we can't honor this, see the numbers under the barcode have to match the numbers in the text part, we've been told to look out for that."

I went back to my car and got one of the ones from the beginning of the month, and, sure enough, the numbers matched on that one (the clerk let me use it) but not on the ones I had printed at the end of the month. So someone from Borders has been in there modifying it.

If they want us to stop using it, they should just take the page down instead of letting us print a coupon they know they won't let us use!

Anyone else had this problem? Or is my store the only one that actually pays attention?
