I am still afraid this isn't going to happen, but if it does, I am all over this DVD. It's one of my all time favorite movies. I was starting to think the dvd would never happen.

It's been a long time since I have seen this movie. Caught it several times over the years however it does not seem regular television airs it any longer. Years ago movies such as this were readily available on regular television. Will pick this one up if it is indeed released!!!

Excellent -- hopefully they use the poster as the cover art.

Nice job, Paramount. Now will you please release Four Flies on Grey Velvet and The Keep?

I don't remember much about this movie except for the title, needless to say I will try this out on release day.

I sure wish that some company (not necessarily associated with any particular studio) would release a "Movie of the Week" series of discs. I've been trying to piece together discs of those films, but many are hard to find, fan-created, or simply not available.

Finally!

Heh, that's funny because I was just reading an old Fangoria article from last year about the film and wondering if it would ever see the light of day.

Great news! I love this creepy/atmospheric little film.

One of the greatest of all Horror movies, and by accident too, since there's really no sense of pretense or deep deliberation in the script or behind Hancock's direction. It just fortuitously happens to be extremely haunting and shivery. Other than Lampert, the actors could be a tad better, but then they wouldn't have the same just-this-side-of-amateur charm. I have watched my old VHS copy about a half-dozen times, and for me the standout scenes, other than the sustained air of creepiness, are:
-The bookending scene, with the poetic voice-over running over the view of Jessica slumped over in the boat as the sun rises and townsfolk gather on the shore.
-Jessica and Duncan returning to their car from a brief trip to the village, and finding a bunch of creepy, surly old guys scratching their car. Terrific use of a fisheye lens on the geezers' faces to underscore the disconcertion.
-Jessica seeing Emily on the stairs, then having her jump out at her from behind a doorjamb (one of the only "jolt" scares in the movie).
-The floating ghost girl coming up from the depths.
-Jessica running up behind Woody as he's using the pesticide tractor and finding him with his throat slit.

I also love the music by Orville Stoeber, and the autumnal cinematography by Bob Baldwin.
