GoodGuys/CompUSA Extended Warranty..

I've got a Viewsonic LCD TV that has gone bad, had it under a year.

I've got 2 options. I bought it at Good Guys and have the 3 year Extended Service Plan (which will go through the GE extended service plan), and i've had it under a year so I can have Viewsonic send me a refurbished unit and then I would have to pay to ship my broken one to viewsonic. Has anyone had any experience with the Good Guys / CompUSA Extended Service Plan? I don't have anywhere locally to bring it to - but I can take it somewhere a distance away. Do they typically take it for a while or do they usually issue a new one right then and there?

Thanks for all advice.

I'd say call the COMPUSA that's a distance away, explain your situation, ask them what their turn around time is like and then make a decision based on your options of getting either them or Viewsonic to repair it.

Man what a tale of woe.. (or woah!)

In very brief: Get RMA from Viewsonic and drove 200 miles round trip to get an exchange. Came how and exchange didn't even power on. Got another RMA going to go back again and get another exchange - this time i'm going to demand a NEW unit instead of a crappy untested refurbish and make them prove to me the new one works before I walk out of there.

American Express said they could only help me after the manufacturer's warranty expired which isn't for another week or so.

I'm giving viewsonic one more chance to do the right thing today. If I get another bad set I shall have to put a curse on the whole company.
