Anyone remember this early 80's childrens' movie?

My brother was asking me if I remembered a movie from either the late 70's or early 80's - it was a children's movie we saw as kids on The Movie Channel. I forget the title, but it was a claymation movie in which animal characters were racing cars in a grand prix. I think there was a turtle as one of the main characters. Beyond that I don't remember much of the movie. I don't think it was a Jim Henson production, but who knows. They used to show it all the time on The Movie Channel in the early 80's. If anyone knows the title or remembers the movie, I appreciate any info you have. Thanks.

I don't think this is it - it looks like these are human (humanistic) characters. In the movie I'm talking about, the characters are all animals. I think one of the main characters' name was actually in the title. Thanks for the reply though.

Flåklypa Grand Prix

Wow, I was certain you meant Flåklypa Grand Prix but I see that Pinchcliff Grand Prix is the US title to this.

No, this isn't it. I initially thought it might be this movie as well, but looking at the pics, this isn't the movie. Thanks though.

No, it was a feature length movie. I seem to remember it may have had the fictional location of the race in the title.

Interesting article on claymation here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claymation

From that article, here's some claymation movies from the '70s and '80s:

Closed Mondays (1974)
Martin the Cobbler (Will Vinton, 1976)
Morph (Peter Lord and Dave Sproxton, 1976)
The Sand Castle (1977)
Rip Van Winkle (Will Vinton, 1978)
The Little Prince (Will Vinton, 1979)
Baby Snakes (Frank Zappa, 1979)
Creation (Will Vinton and Joan Gratz, 1981)
The Trap Door (Terry Brain and Charlie Mills, 1984)
The Adventures of Mark Twain (Will Vinton, 1985)(also known as Comet Quest)
Return to Oz (Will Vinton, 1985)(Knome King scenes)
A Claymation Christmas Celebration (Joan Gratz, 1987)
Creature Comforts (1989)

Out of this list, the only one that looks likely is Creature Comforts. From IMDB:

Plot Summary for
Creature Comforts (1989)
Off camera, with her microphone in view, an interviewer asks creatures at the zoo to talk about how they like their accommodations, what's good and what's bad, and what they miss about their old land. The animals interviewed include a family of polar bears - the youngest of whom likes it there, a large Brazilian cat (who misses the space and the heat of the Amazon), an ape who's a bit bored, a lemur, a turtle who reads for escape, and a chicken who compares her life favorably to the lives of her sisters in the circus. They talk about what they eat, their cramped and smelly quarters, and the technology of zoo life. They're thoughtful, philosophical, and reasoned.

I think this could be it though. This was the first feature length claymation movie ever made, and "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calavaras County" is the title of the section with the animals. There weren't hardly any other feature length claymation movies for the time period you are talking about.

If you are misremembering the claymation aspect, the other movies that could fit your description, but are cel-animated not clay, would be several of Wind in the Willows adaptations made in the 1980s for TV, which feature a race between a bunch of animals.

This movie may in fact be stop motion animation, now that I think about it. I've done a pretty extensive search on imdb.com and still haven't come up with an answer. I tried several searches through both "Stop motion" and "animals" and didn't have any luck. Thanks for your replies though.
