Summer Movie Brackets

The Philadelphia Daily News has a cool "march madness" style bracket game for this year's summer movies.

http://pdn.philly.com/2006/bracketmaster.asp

My final four was: Superman Returns, DaVinci Code, XMen: The Last Stand and Pirates of the Caribbean 2.

DaVinci Code taking it all.

What's your final four and winner?

I'm betting on Superman.

With Cars, MI3 and POTC in the Final Four.

Well, I just missed the deadline by an hour (May 5, noon EST). Would have been fun to play it though. Supes and Pirates will most likely make it out of their respective brackets, the interesting match-ups will be DaVinci Code vs. Cars (assuming both will make it that far), and M:I-3 vs X-Men. Interesting system too since it's not a straight highest-grossing movie competition. Let's say that M:I-3 gets matched with X-Men eventually in the "regional final", which will compare the two movies in their 3rd box office weekend. Is M:I-3 going to make more on May 19-21 (when DaVinci code is going to be released), or is X-Men going to make more on June 9-11 (when Cars is going to be released)? Hmm..... I'm going with M:I-3 with that one.

Sorry about that, I just saw it today and posted after I was done - saw the deadline but I've been thinking it's the 4th all day. The link is still available so you can play along, just not eligible for prizes.

M:I-III vs Cars.
Superman Returns vs. POTC 2.

I am betting Cars will win it all in the end.

Tie-Breaker 1: The Reaping
Tie-Breaker 2: $10 million (I am fucked if it's released unrated)
Tie-Breaker 3: $285 million

Same as Chmiel until the winner is chosen...

MI:3 vs. Cars : Cars
POTC vs. Superman : Superman

Superman takes it all.

Halfway through the summer and Cars is in the Finals. With the rest of the summer to go looks like a battle between Superman and Pirates. Cars is in the finals with $10 million take in week 5. Can either Superman or Pirates make that much in their fifth week?

Here's the brackets so far: http://pdn.philly.com/2006/bracketmaster.htm

Haha . . . cool stuff . . . no major upsets like we see in the NCAA. The only potential upset still left is a possible 6 seed beating a 3 seed (World Trade Center over Snakes on a Plane).
