Sopranos Season 6 in 2006

Although nobody can confirm this, I didn't see a thread started on this so I thought I'd just report that I'm sure as many of you know from buying Six Feet Unders final season, the little DVD advertisement slip that comes in there says that Season 6 of The Sopranos is due in 2006... probably right before Christmas so that it can be in time for the new episodes that start in the beginning of '07.

um...maybe they meant will air on tv in 2006...since Season 6 won't conclude until 2007, I'm not sure how this is possible.

Is there going to be a season 7? I thought this would be the last season?

This is the last season but there's 12 episodes now and 8 more starting in January-February. They split up Sex And The City's last season into two, and they split that onto DVD for two seperate releases. Anybody who's at home right now who kept this slip want to confirm? I can see if I still have it when I go home later today...

They would pretty much have to release it seperatly. Otherwise, by HBO prices the set of all would cost like $600!

I don't mind them breaking up the season for viewing (ok, I do mind) but when they do it to make more money on the DVD sets... That pisses me off. My girl friend at the time was so angry about the split in the final season of Sex and the City (each half season priced just like the full season) that she refused to buy it and even went so far as to trade in all of the other seasons.

Pricing partial seasons like they are the full ones is just a slap in the face to loyal fans (yes, I'm talking to you too Family Guy). Even if they drop the price point $10 for each set you still end up over paying for the season.

Well come on, to be fair, it IS 12 episodes for this first run which is pretty standard as the seasons usually have 12 or 13 episodes. Hopefully when the other eight episodes come along they're not full price but even if they are, I'm sure a majority of Sopranos fans will buy them. But as far as this first portion of season 6 goes, it is pretty much a full season. And you'd be getting your moneys worth on this first set as opposed to those sex and the city sets. The second set is another story but seeing as that last set of eight episodes is the series finale on DVD I'm sure as I've said, many of the fans won't mind shelling out the cash.

don't hold your breath. That is what people said about sex and the city, and the final season which had a total MSRP of $99.98, had twenty episodes (2 more than seasons 2 - 4) and it was double the price.

I have no doubt about it. Part one of season six is twelve episode, part two will be eight. I'm more than positive that they'll have episodes 1-12 in one set and then eventualy 13-20 in late 2007.

Yeah, just like they did with the final extended season of Sex and the City.

I have it. It lists HBO series that will be released in 2006. It lists Sopranos season 6 as one of them.

Just series eh? Not on DVD? Because I could have sworn like Deadwood Season 2 or some other things that already aired was listed there. Ah well.

I still would not put it past HBO to release this just in time for the holidays, and then the other eight episodes a year later.

OK I'll try it again,

I have it. It lists HBO shows that will be released ON DVD in 2006. It lists Sopranos season 6 as one of them.

It also lists Rome, Curb, Entourage, Deadwood, Carnivale, Big Love, The Wire, and OZ.

Not to nitpick, but all prior seasons had 13 episodes. Season 6 part 1 is 12. To get my money's worth, the S6 set 1 should be discounted appropriately. Of course the sets are overpriced, but that's another discussion.

Bet on the MSRP of the Season Six "Set 1" or whatever you want to call it to be ~100 bones just like SFU's fifth season (12 episodes) and the other Sopranos seasons. One episode isn't going to matter on their price.

Oh, HBO's already proved that... Actually I'm pretty sure a 'regular' season order from HBO for drama's has officially gone from 13 episodes to 12

Ture. It has. They either started that with Deadwood or Carnivale - I can't remember which.

I can't remember either but, glad to see I'm not crazy and it DID list this show as out for this year. Any takers on betting it's for the holidays now?
