At this time last year we had:
Anthony Fedorov
Harold "Bo" Bice
Scott Savol
Carrie Underwood
Vonzell Solomon
The year's Top 5 are so much better than them.

Pretty interesting blog read over at USToday on what they think they should sing tonight:

Paris is dead meat.

Unless someone else really fucks up tonight. As in puking on Paula or doing a G.G. Allin. (Thought puking on Paula might actually pull in a few votes.)

Lol, Anthony Federov, Sergei's younger brother.

I think that ALL of the top 10 (yes, including Kevin and Ace) were better than Anthony and Scott last year.

I miss Vonzell....no one this year comes close to her personality and her pipes.

Well maybe some people have strong voices this year...but there was just something about Vonzell that made me pay attention. Chris and Parisa kiiiiinda give me that feeling, but Vonzell was my girl last season, and I wish she would have gotten runner-up of faux-rock-bice. I knew she wouldnt win cuz fantasia won the yr before...but yeah...

I think the current top 10's are going to all suck. As for year of birth songs, Taylor HAS to do a Seger tune. And from that link above, I think "Time After Time" for Katharine is a good suggestion.

That can't be right ... "Something" is well before the age of even the oldest contestants (have to be under 30).

If Wild Cherry is his birth year song, then "Something" is his new one, has it been redone and on the charts now?

I see Pearl Jam's "World Wide Suicide" on a couple of those charts.

I love Pearl Jam.

I love American Idol.

But NEVER the twain shall meet. Ugh, I'm getting ill just thinking about it.

Chris probably would have picked Pearl Jam but I bet they wouldn't give clearance.

I just did a search and found out that Joe Cocker has a version on a compilation released this year.

Not sure if it's on a chart. Are album tracks allowed if the album is on any sort of chart? It seems like they could stretch it to include a lot of things.

Strangely enough, Pearl Jam's new CD (which came out today), is being distributed by J Records...the label of Mr. American Idol himself, Clive Davis. So I guess it's possible. But I certainly hope not.

I love, love that song. If she is on her game, I think Kat could do very well with it. I am both very excited and nervous to hear that.

Taylor could've had a lot of fun (ie: full-on spaz mode) with the Bon Jovi song and the "Oh yeah! Oh yeah! Alright! Alright!" stuff in the chorus.

As long as no one sings that awful James Blunt song tonight, I'll be happy.

Based on his choices, I really am nervous for Elliott.
