Great new sales at Amazon: 45% off select Criterions, 50% Fox TV sets, etc.

Up to 50% off Lions Gate TV DVD sets
50% off Fox "TV you may have missed" DVD sets
Up to 50% off Anchor Bay anime titles

I can't find a link for the sale, but a few Criterions (Do the Right Thing, Seven Samurai, Mr. Arkadin, Brazil, etc.) have dropped to 45% off. Just search around the site if there's one in particular you're looking for.

I thank you for the prices, but my credit card is calling you a complete bastard.

I'm thinking of doing a blind buy on Point Pleasant, can anyone give me a recommendation one way or the other?

I did a DVD search for Criterion, and here's what I came up with that's 45% off. This list is complete assuming that, unlike DDD, Amazon has Criterion in the title of every Criterion release that they carry.

Ugetsu
Seven Samurai
Brazil
The Third Man
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas
M
Traffic
Grey Gardens
Young Mister Lincoln
Do The Right Thing
Short Cuts
My Own Private Idaho
Grand Illusion
The Complete Mr. Arkadin

Thankfully I already have anything I want from the Criterion sale.

Do you know how long the Criterion prices will last, or are they a permanent price drop?

Thanks OP!

Was gonna get Young Mr. Lincoln and Traffic (Criterion) at the next DDD 20% off sale. But now that DDD has jacked up the prices on their Criterions, this is a much better deal.

I was really disappointed with Point Pleasant. Since the creator, Marti Noxon, was a staff writer on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and exec producer for that series last two seasons I thought it had promise. Unlike Buffy however Point Pleasant is a teen soap opera first and a horror/suspense show second. It was pretty painful to sit through the whole series, and I would have given up half way through except I had to review the set. You can read the rest of my thoughts here:

Some people disagreed with my review, and there's a thread about the show here:

Hope that helps.

This is Amazon. The prices may last anywhere from 1 hour to 1 month and there's no way of telling. This is not a permanent price drop.

Damn, I wish they had 8 1/2 and Naked Lunch on sale. Maybe they'll add more or provide a link to the Criterions soon. Good topic!

Thnaks OP. I was planning on grabbing Millenium Seasons 2 & 3 when Foxstore had their After Tax Day 50% off sale, but that doesnt seem to be happening. $29.99 is not a bad price.

I must get Do the Right Thing. I've said that the last three or so times it's been on sale, but this time, I mean it!

Is that the show that just fell off the face of the earth? I think I watched every episode, but only because it came on after one of my regular shows. It was awful. Some parts I just had to laugh it because they were so dumb! I wasn't aware about the Buffy link. That's too bad since I know a lot of people enjoy that show. I never did get into it...

Thanks, OP! May pick up AD S1 & 2 for $30ish this time (remember if you buy both it's cheaper!)

Gosh, I could finally pull the trigger on Wonderfalls. Now $19.99 instead of the $29.99 last week.

I'd say check back every so often and see if things change. When I first saw this post at around 3am eastern, Mr Arkadin wasn't at 45% off, now it is (although the OP said it was, so maybe the list view I had hadn't been updated yet). When I first looked at the Fox TV sets, some items were placed differently than where they are now in the ad, meaning things have either been added or taken off.

Much thanks WhiteRob. I've been waiting for a good deal on Roswell 3 and Tru Calling 2 and now I've got one. I also couldn't resist picking up M and Mr. Arkadin.

How about you just give me the $20 and I'll kick you in the nuts. It will be much less painful for the same money.

I gave that show an honest try when it was on. It was just god-awful.

Yes, I pointed that out. However, when I did a search on Amazon for "Criterion" when I was making my list of what was discounted, it was not 45% off so I assumed it had been pulled from the sale at that time.

I dunno... do I have to pay your gas money to get to Genesee township? Because I have people around here that'll do it for that much, so the whole gas money thing could be a deal breaker.

Looks like I'll pass on Point Pleasant. After looking around some, it doesn't seem to be a show that I'd enjoy.
