Enchanted Arms coming this summer (360 Japanese RPG)
SAN FRANCISCO – MAY 1, 2006 – Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced that it will publish Enchanted Arms™ exclusively for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Enchanted Arms was created by development studio FromSoftware in Japan and is the first true next-generation Japanese RPG adventure game. The Enchanted Arms adventure takes place in a fantasy world filled with beautiful cinematic graphics and vibrant characters. It includes over 50 hours of gameplay and is the only Xbox 360 RPG with a fast-action, turn-based battle system that enables the player to move characters while in battle. Enchanted Arms is scheduled to ship in North America and Europe in summer 2006.
In Enchanted Arms, players will embark on an epic adventure filled with unique characters and more than 75 special controllable creatures that players can unlock as they progress. Players will take on the role of Atsuma, an Enchanter-in-training who will transform from a naïve student to the most powerful savior in a war 1,000 years in the making. As the story develops, players face increasingly difficult challenges and learn to master Atsuma’s special fighting and magical abilities.
“Enchanted Arms is the first classic Japanese RPG game created specifically for Xbox 360,” said Jay Cohen, vice president of publishing at Ubisoft. “With its fast-action gameplay, stunning high-definition graphics, rich and colorful environments, and over an hour of anime-style cinematics, it’s a must-have for every Xbox 360 owner.”

Hrm, it describes it as cinematic which makes me worry if it is an action scene here and there meanwhile you are subjected to hours of cutscenes (like FF and Metal Gear Solid became). That style of game really turns me off to Japanese RPGs. Although i do enjoy a good turn based combat style game.
Wasn't there an anime or something of Enchanted Arms?

This game is out in no time and not much buzz on this site about it, thought id add some screenshots to fuel the fire. I think it looks great and its the first of its kind for the 360, heres hoping for a good starting entry!

You may have been thinking of Wild Arms, which is an anime series and I think 4, so far, games released on the PlayStation systems.

But at least the main character has the spiky/weird hairdo.
Edit: I just found out that there is a pizza monster in the game.

I read about this in a recent issue of Game Informer, and it looks great. It even has a minigame where you collect different creatures, kind of Pokemon-esque. I'll definitely be checking it out.
Edit: I think that pizza monster is one of those collectible creatures.

I can't wait for this release. Each time I read something new about it I get more interested. I'll be picking this up next week as soon as it's available. I've been waiting for a new RPG to play. Hopefully this one will last me until FFIII comes out.

I'm looking forward to its release. I'm interested in playing an RPG, although I rarely ever play any games from that genre. For some reason, I'm just in the mood for one, and this one looks good. Because of that reason, I may rent it before I buy it.
