Daniel Powter's "Bad Day" holds firm atop the Billboard Hot 100 this week, extending its run to five straight weeks. The cut also remains No. 1 on the Pop 100 and Hot Digital Songs charts for the same duration. On the Hot 100, Sean Paul's "Temperature," which is the chart's greatest sales gainer, and T.I.'s "What You Know" stay put at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
Chamillionaire's "Ridin'" featuring Krayzie Bone climbs 12-4, Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten" holds at No. 5 and LL Cool J's "Control Myself" featuring Jennifer Lopez descends 4-6. Dem Franchize Boyz' "Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It" featuring Lil Peanut & Charlay rises 10-7.
Elsewhere on the chart, James Blunt's "You're Beautiful" falls 7-8, as Bubba Sparxxx' "Ms. New Booty" featuring Ying Yang Twins and Mr. ColliPark jumps 11-9. The Blunt track remains atop the Adult Contemporary chart for a third week, while "Ms. New Booty" leads the Hot Ringtones chart for a fourth.
Rounding out the Hot 100 top tier is Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Dani California," which falls 9-10 but holds at No. 1 on the Modern Rock chart for a third week. The track also seizes the top spot on the Mainstream Rock tally, ending the five-week run of Godsmack's "Speak," which drops to No. 2.
Scoring big on both rock charts is Tool's "Vicarious," which enjoys a No. 2 debut on Modern Rock and a No. 3 entry on Mainstream Rock. The cut is drawn from the band's Volcano album "10,000 Days," which is released Tuesday (May 2).
On the Hot Country Songs chart, Bon Jovi's duet with Jennifer Nettles, "Who Says You Can't Go Home," rises 2-1 and ends the five-week reign of Rascal Flatts' "What Hurts the Most," which falls to No. 2. This is the first time a rock act has reached No. 1 on the chart since Billboard began tracking country singles in 1944.
"Who Says You Can't Go Home" also marks the first time in almost 30 years that a top billed non-country artist has reached No. 1 with their first attempt at the country chart -- it hasn't happened since pop crooner Tom Jones did so with "Say You'll Stay Until Tomorrow" in 1977.
Chris Brown's "Gimme That" featuring Lil' Wayne is the Hot 100's greatest airplay gainer, rising 61-42, and Dixie Chicks' "Not Ready To Make Nice" is the chart's top debut at No. 28.
Also new are Missy Elliott's "We Run This" (No. 75), Taking Back Sunday's "MakeDamnSure" (No. 78), Jamie Foxx's "DJ Play a Love Song" featuring Twista (No. 90), LeToya's "Torn" (No. 92), Three Days Grace's "Animal I Have Become" (No. 93), Carrie Underwood's "Don't Forget To Remember Me" (No. 98) and Brad Paisley's "The World" (No. 100).
Anais' "Lo Que Son Las Cosas" holds at No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart for a fourth week.

I appreciate when bigjim does these Billboard listings (though, this one isn't as pretty as they usually are), but they really don't mean anything anymore, do they?

Interesting to see the Dixie Chicks song hit the Hot 100 so high. How is it doing in the Country world? Has it even been sent to Country radio? I've seen the video several times on VH-1 (my Tivo picks up video shows that are broadcast at 4am).

Prince: "Black Sweat" and (a song I'm so embarrassed to like, since it's not my usual genre of choice, but it's so damn kickin'!) Rihanna: "SOS".

and 2 songs (that i know of at least) have really bad samples. "SOS" samples "Tainted Love" and "Pump it" samples "Misrilu" aka the theme from pulp fiction.

Wow. I'm so out of touch with what's on the radio. The only song listed above that I've actually heard is The Dixie Chicks song, and I heard that through a link posted on this forum. That's likely the only CD from that list that'd I'd think about getting when it comes out, too- I'm not a huge fan of the Dixie Chicks but I've enjoyed their previous albums enough.
To sort of answer the poll question, though, my favorite current song - Giant Drag - "This Isn't It". I've got no clue if that's getting any radio play, but it surely would if there was any justice in the world. Other than that I've been listening to mostly T Rex, Wanda Jackson and Stereolab lately. I'm decidedly anti-radio.

Rock one is Bon Jovi by themselves
Country one is Duet With Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland (better of the 2, IMO)

My favorite song today? Sparks - "Moustache"
But it's not from 2006.
Besides James Blunt and maybe two or three others, I have yet to hear one of these songs.
