Portable DVD player
So I'm looking for a portable DVD player. Prices range from 100 to 300+ dollars (US). Interestingly, those on the expensive side are big names, like Sony, Panasonic, etc. While those on the cheap side are names like Zenith, Polaroid, etc.
Before I regret buying one and it becomes crap, I seek the wisdom of those here to help me on some pointers in buying one. I'm fairly knowledgeable in computer/media language, so don't worry about defining things unless I ask. Why the difference in price? What should I look for in buying one? I'm not interested in anything bigger than 7 inches by the way.
There was one in BestBuy I checked last night that caught my attention, but also I'm afraid prices may have a say in something:

Thank you.

I bought a 7 inch Toshiba portable DVD player from Best But about a year ago. I believe it was around $175, but I'm not sure. I really like it. It doesn't look like BB has the 7 inch models anymore, but the 8 inch is only 188.

Yeah, I had the backlight on my screen die...and I paid like $300 back in the day....it sucks. It was an offbrand....so I guess that is what you get. Anyway to FIX my problem? I don't really care much....I can use it as a spare DVD player still since it has audio/video out.

How about Philips? I heard it was reliable with boomboxes, so I thought maybe it's good with portables as well:
