Software for making music?
Is there any software for making your own music on pc. I am very interested in knowing if you software that will let you change or enhance recorded music.
Say I want to make my own version of a song and could change that song with software, using the song for tempo and note and then making my own version of that song from it.
I know there is ringtone software that will do this but want something much more creative than that.

Programs like Acid and Cubase are for creating original music. Acid is a loop based program with extensive loop libraries. Cubase is a full system of sequencers, sound modules, multitrack recording, etc...
I am not sure about what you are looking for. Maybe something like Adobe Audition (formerly CoolEdit) could do what you are looking for. I have used CoolEdit to change tempo while maintaining key on a particular song but you only have control over the stereo channels.
If you want a relatively easy program to create original music I strongly recommend the latest version of Band in a Box, Cakewalk Sonar, or Reason.
