How are Toshiba DVD recorders?

Read some horror stories online about the XS54 model-couldn't keep proper time making the built-in tv guide feature useless.Have they fixed the bugs and what about the XS52 model.Since it seems that no one stocks the Panasonic recorders with hard drives this looks like the only other alternative.

Panny seems to be in the middle of a product line change. Usually they have extra of the old that get discounted when the new ones hit the streets, they must have timed this one differently. Pioneer would be my 2nd choice.
