I thought his antics would have a negative impact on War of the Worlds, but I was wrong in that respect. Do you think it will impact M:I-3? My prediction is that it will do better than the first, but not as well as the second.

I voted for "better than the first two"

I don't care how Tom Cruise acts in real life. M:I III just looks good. What else can I say?

Ditto... frankly, I'm a little tired of the anti-Cruise thing. I like most of his movies, and really don't care what he does offscreen unless he's eating babies or something. I think the media assault on him has gotten a little played out.

I'm surprised this one's titled "Is MI:3 Doomed?!"

I don't hate Tom Cruise but his recent behaviour has done enough damage. MI-3 is doomed! *sobs*

Yep, unless he/she's a well-documented a-hole/bitch off screen, I don't let that affect my enjoyment of the movie.

I don't think MI:3 will have a problem topping the take of MI:2

I've thought he was a jerk for a long time, at least since he got divorced (to me he just came out looking like a moron on that, and has continued to do so ever since0, yet I see and enjoy most of his movies, and I'm sure I'll see MI3 too, since I liked the first two.

Yeah, I don't care how nutty he is either. It's not like he's shooting people or anything (that I know of anyway ). He's far from my favorite actor, but among the big stars I'd rather watch him than someone like George Clooney or Brad Pitt.

I didn't see the first one, didn't see the second one, and won't be seeing the third one.

I'll put it this way - I know that it'll at least make $6 or so, and that's a fact.

No matter how much I love to mock the guy, and how much I think he is an actual nutcase, I love just about every one of his movies.

It's going to outgross the other two flicks, for sure. His antics are going to be a slight factor, but the glowing reviews this thing is going to get and the strong word of mouth, is going to make it a cash cow... I have 100% faith in JJ Abrams, and early word is the movie is stellar....I'm there on opening day.

His career is still on solid ground. His off-screen "antics" are amateurish compared to Michael Jackson.

Well, according to a GQ interview, comments which he later retracted, he at one point intended to eat both the placenta and umbilical cord of young Suri due to their nutritional value. Maybe he was being sarcastic, I hope...

If being weird to the average American caused people to boycott a film, then Hollywood would have to close up shop.

I believe Sierra Disc was referring to that very thing.

Well, we started a thread all about him, right? I think the media attention he set out to grab succeeded.

Most successful, considering all the early praise for the movie.

I make fun of Tom Cruise as much as the next guy.

Doesn't matter, this movie is near the top of my list for summer movies. I'll be there opening weekend, my opinion of Tom Cruise the person doesn't bother me from seeing him as an actor.

Agreed. Tom Cruise may act strange, but I think he is an amazing actor. He rarely lets me down with his films - or his acting!

I won't be seeing it, because M:I2 was such a complete and utter waste of time. Now, if this one was more like the first film, I might be inclined to see it. But so far, it looks like M:I2 with even BIGGER explosions. Add to that my hatred of Abrams and my money will be happily spent elsewhere.
