"Good Clean Fun" by Bonnie Hayes
The 1982 album "Good Clean Fun" by Bonnie Hayes has never been released on CD.
Bonnie is letting people download 3 of its songs for free: "Girls Like Me," "Shelly's Boyfriend," and "Coverage."
This is great stuff.
I've never heard any of the other songs from the album.

Did you hear her songs on the radio, on MTV, or in the movie "Valley Girl?"
I'm a huge fan of this kind of stuff. I think I may have heard "Shelley's Boyfriend" once or twice more than 20 years ago, but I'm not sure.
I watched "Valley Girl" on cable yesterday, and the song seemed like I had heard it before, but I wasn't sure.
I'm glad I know about it now!

I've been reading stuff around the internet. Apparently, the album was released on the independent Slash label. (I think X used that label.) Almost no one bought it. Not because it wasn't good (because it was very good) but becuase no one knew about it. Some people say it's the best record that has never been released on CD. Apparently the master tapes have been lost.

I want lots of people to know about this amazingly wonderful song. It's so fun and full of energy!

One of the cable shows back then (perhaps NightFlight? I'm not sure) had Bonnie live in concert at Club Lingerie (in Hollywood).

I just did a search on Amazon. Very interesting: Bonnie is now creating more singer/songwriter music like Aimee Mann. I may have to check out some of her newer material.

I bought the "Good Clean Fun" album and I had a legal MP3 copy made, because I don't own a record player.
Oh wow! This is absolutely amazing!
It's a great tragedy that this wonderful album has never been released on CD, and never got national radio airplay.

grundle: you may want to check out Holly and the Italians. Although not as "bouncy" as Bonnie's music, they put out a great pop/rock album around the same time called "The Right to Be Italian" which is available on CD. Their second album (which was really Holly's solo album) is very good but quite different: very lush with interesting percussion. Holly did a cool version of "I Got You Babe" with Joey Ramone!

Thanks.
amazon.com has actually recommended them to me based on some of my other purchases.
