I think Tom Green is an underrated comedy genius. He's hilarious in Road Trip and Stealing Harvard as well. Can someone back me up here??

Looks like you're the only one. Then again you are the one who said Adam Sandler and Jim Carry shouldn't do anything other than the type cast stupid roles that got old after one or two films. So comedy and opinions about it are very subjective.

I agree with OP... I love Tom Green in that Andy Kaufman-esque self-referential way
.. for me it's funny looking at is as a big joke
but I also have a taste for all things surreal and over-the-top. I'd rather have too much than too little

I never said that Carrey and Sandler shouldn't do ANYTHING other than stupid roles, I said that stupid roles fit them best and showcased their talent better. I am a fan of the truman show but not much of Sandler's serious work.

Count me in as one who thinks it was so bad it was funny. I almost pissed myself when
Spoiler:
that person towards the end held up the sign that read "When the fuck is this movie going to end?" I was thinking the exact same thing at that moment when it appeared and I couldn't stop laughing

I think its pretty funny and have seen it a few times. I admit there are a few parts that I do think went too far.
Spoiler:
Especialy when he is jacking off the horse and elephant
I would like it more if those scenes weren't there.

I also thought "Freddy Got Fingered" was hilarious. I think a lot of people were overly hard on it for not making any sense, but it was very different from most other comedies.

t had a meanness and a nihilism to it that I don't see in most comedies, which, while often vulgar and gross, are too scared of becoming bummers to really delight in torturing the characters. The sly genius of "Freddie Got Fingered" was that it took a well-worn story, a conflict between a father and a prodigal son, and played it out with all the characters as complete psychotics.

Tom Green is only good in small doses. His "talk show", his bits in Stealing Harvard, Road Trip, etc.

Freddy Got Fingered was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Here are my thoughts on Tom Green:

-His movies are horrible and forced.
-His comedy bits in public, etc... can be great.

His work doesn't work on film because it's all staged, scripted, and all of that. When he goes out in public you know that many of the reactions are sincere.

"THEY'RE JEWELS BETTY, JEWELS!"

That line cracks me up but overall the movie is almost unbearable.

Couldn't find anyone in your everyday life to agree with you? I am sure there will be a few on a message board to echo your beliefs to make you feel good.

It's one of the worst movies I can think of that actually had me laughing out loud (for intended reasons). As a movie or story it's terrible, but there are some great gags in there. The scene with the cordless phone and the tape recorder had me in tears.

Only good parts for me are Rip Torn beating him up, and that kid who constantly gets hurt throughout the movie.

I think it says a lot for Tom Green for Rip Torn to come out after the making of this movie to say that Tom Green was one of the best directors he ever worked with. Freddy Got Fingered is certainly not one of the greatest movies in contrast, but I think it greatly succeded in it's goal: to screw with the audience and to basically torpedo the gross out teen comedy genre that had gotten out of hand by the time this thing was made. In fact, Tom Green perhaps got more of a kick out of people hating this movie than he did out of people liking it. It was a Kaufmanesque joke, no doubt, a joke on the movie going audience, and those who get it will love the movie, and those who don't get it will just continue to hate it, and were the butt of the joke.

We already had this conversation, and you even participated. Remember? I don't know what to do...I mean I can't even recommend the search feature since it's a thread that you know exists, as evidenced by your posts in it. So, um...

Actually, I had forgotten until I saw him tonight, one of my buddies really likes this movie. Ever since finding this out, I know that if he likes a movie, I will probably hate it. The opposite works, as well.

Strangely enough, this has held true ~80% of the time.

That was a thread about a special edition of the movie coming out, this thread is about whether anyone agrees with me that the flick is hilarious. So, um...get a life.

No, I have plenty of friends who enjoy this movie. I didn't start this thread to make me feel good, I was just curious as to how many other posters like the flick. It sounds to me like you need your self-esteem raised since the only reason you posted was to try to make me feel low. Some might say you're pathetic.

Sorry wanted to like it but didn't. I'll take the three minute trailer over the actual movie. I like my insanity is small easy to manage doses.
