Actors in lots of sequels to originals they were never in.
Random thread, I know...
I was looking over Lance Henriksen's resume and saw that he's been in a lot of sequels, and not in a Sly Stallone-Bruce Willis-Mel Gibson kind of way. He's been in a lot of sequels where he wasn't part of the original movie, and a lot of them are of the straight-to-video variety where there is no connection to part one. Maybe it's just me, but a film resume doesn't exactly sparkle when a lot of your movies have numbers at the end of the title.
Here's his list of sequels where he wasn't part of the original:
Damien: Omen II
Piranha II: The Spawning
Aliens
Alien 3
Alien vs. Predator
House III, aka The Horror House (although it wasn't made to be House III, it was just a tack-on name; so maybe that shouldn't count)
No Contest II, aka Face the Evil
Scream 3
The Mangler 2
Mimic 3: Sentinel
Hellraiser: Hellworld
Other actors like this:
Jason Scott Lee
Back to the Future Part II
Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go to College
Dracula II: Ascension
Dracula III: Legacy
Timecop: The Berlin Decision
The Prophecy: Forsaken
Robert Patrick
Hollywood Boulevard II
Die Hard 2
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money
Backflash 2, aka Angels Don't Sleep Here (looks like another unrelated movie with a sequel title tacked on at the last minute)
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
Kari Wuhrer
Beastmaster 2: Through the Portal of Time
Red Blooded American Girl II
Backflash 2, aka Angels Don't Sleep Here
The Hitcher II: I've Been Waiting
Hellraiser: Deader
The Prophecy: Uprising
The Prophecy: Forsaken

the thing about being a B-movie actor (and everyone in the OP list is a B actor) is you have to take the money and run...they have the familiar title....they need a familiar face....but not one thats to expensive...so you get someone that is somewhat trusted, and well known...but not top shelf material

I surmised, the reason could be that a first rate Oscar winning actor, or actress are demanding an astronomical amount of money to star in a film, which B movie filmmakers are unable to afford. Their last resort would be, to employ a secondary cast who'll require a significant lesser amount of money to star in their project.

Not to squash your theory but:
Harrison Ford
Patriot Games
Clear and Present Danger
(Alec Baldwin -- The Hunt for Red October)

Christopher Lee:
Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Kingdom Hearts II (not a movie, but a sequel where he wasn't in the original)
Police Academy 7: Mission To Moscow
Curse III: Blood Sacrifice
Gremlins 2: The New Batch
Howling II: Stirba - Werewolf Bitch
Captain America II: Death Too Soon (TV)
The Man With The Golden Gun
And those were just the obvious ones I could see on IMDB.

Edit: Also, Be Cool (Get Shorty). I've also seen the new Jumanji described as a sequel to the 1995 version, but I don't know how accurate that is.
Another edit: Why Did I Get Married Too
And why not another, factoring in music: WWF the Music Vol. 5. And does Wyclef Jean's The Ecleftic: 2 Sides II a Book count?

Re: Actors in lots of sequels to originals they were never in.
We've kind of got two different themes going here. Lance Henricksen was playing supporting characters in sequels which isn't unusual because that's his job, but then there are actors playing the same character played by another actor in the original, or a character who effectively replaces one of the main characters in the movie.
Then there's the whole "Jack Ryan" thing...
