Firewall ----> 6/6/06

From dvdtimes.co.uk:

Firewall (R1) in June

Warner Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Firewall for 6th June 2006 priced at $28.98 SRP. Firewall stars Harrison Ford as bank security expert Jack Stanfield, whose specialty is designing infallible theft-proof financial computer systems. But there's a hidden vulnerability in the system he didn't account for - himself. When a ruthless criminal mastermind (Paul Bettany) kidnaps his family, Jack is forced to find a flaw in his system and steal $100 million. With the lives of his wife and children at stake and under constant surveillance, he has only hours to find a loophole in the thief's own impenetrable system of subterfuge and false identities to beat him at his own game.

Available in separate Widescreen and Full Screen editions features include:
English, French and Spanish DD5.1 Surround
English, French and Spanish subtitles
Firewall Decoded: A Conversation with Harrison Ford and director Richard Loncraine
Firewall: Writing a Thriller

Yeah, I know, that's where I originally saw it.

Nothing wrong with a little crossposting, is there?

If you liked that, this is something I wrote as a posting on MySpace when the movie came out...

I have an idea for a movie. Harrison Ford stars as himself, and his family is kidnapped by people who want him to star in their sh*tty action script, where Harrison Ford would play Harry Sanford, an undercover astronaut whose family is kidnapped by Nazis. Also, it's Thanksgiving. But Harrison Ford turns the tables on everybody at the last minute, rescues both his real family and his movie-family, learns the true meaning of Thanksgiving (not the Europeans-killing-Indians-and-stealing-their-land truth; you know, just something stupid about family and/or togetherness), and says some quip like "When I said your script was interesting, that meant it was lousy!" before firing a gun at the kidnapping would-be auteur, who is probably British.

"Now you know why they call it a film shoot ." Then, just when you think he's dead, the guy gets up again and Harrison Ford has to stab him with the carving knife from the Thanksgiving scene, and says "I'm afraid I have to insist on final cut!" I know it sounds bloody, but we could make it PG-13, depending how we shoot it (no pun intended, har-har).

And it could be called "Ford Supreme", though I'm open to other titular ideas. (If 'Firewall' is successful, I could live with "Spam Blaster".)

Also wanted to say, if this DVD does not have the car commercials which aired on television saying "Firewall starring the Chrysler Pacifica" (or whatever car), with actual trailer footage highlighting the car, NO THANKS!

IMHO seriously consider a rental first. I thought the movie had good potential but it just fell flat. Not even something Id consider a "guilty pleasure". Most people I talked to who saw it considered it a "watch once" flick. Of course, YMMV.

This movie has been brought to you by iPod, GPS dog collars, and animal-loving maniacal villains everywhere.
