Check Those Best Buy Shelf Talkers: Tales From Crypt Season #3 = $17.99
A word to the wise to those looking to pick up the third season of Tales From The Crypt at Best Buy...... Check the Shelf Talker tags.
The BB I just came from had shelf talker tag stating the $29.99 price this week for Season #3. There was a black ring around the $29.99 price stating the RZ members pay only $17.99 for that set.
I plucked the little sign and brought it to the register, showed my RZ card and got the set for $17.99 + tax (after the manager overrode the $29.99 price of course).
Keep your eyeballs peeled on this one.

What is with this 17.99 magic pricepoint for RZ members? Did they just screw up the Batman Beyond signs and printed everything with the Batman Beyond price? Because there are reports that there are Justice League signs like this too...

You beat me to it, speedy! I just picked up both Tales from the Crypt S3 and Justice League S1 for $17.99 each. Brought the shelf tags up to the counter, just like you.
I love taking advantage of a Best Buy screwup!

I got TFTC for $17.99 but they also had a Justice League tag for the same price but there were sold out. I got a really nice employee to give me a raincheck specifically saying that I was to be given the $17.99 price. One of my best BB experiences.

Hmm, no go in a store in Southern California. There's an ad that says RZ members get the set for $24.99. (Originally priced at $29.99). Big whoop! Anyway, I took it up to the register (along with the new Rhett Miller -- ex-Old 97's frontman -- album) and the sucker rang up at $29.99, even with my reward zone number added.
Not cool. I passed. Maybe next time. I didn't see any markers on the shelves indicating that it was cheaper, though. I DID, however, see a ton of $5.99 movies in the rack they typically put new releases in.

Some other people won't see that great deal if they are removed.

But there was one 1 season 3 set left when I departed and I saw the manager who did the price override heading back towards where I replaced the shelf tag. He may have removed it as he seemed kinda put off by reducing the DVD set by another $12.

Thanks Speedy! I went to my Best Buy and the clerk didn't want to give me that price despite the tag. I had to point it out twice because he kept "seeing" the price as $27.99. He finally agreed tho his attitude went from "Good afternoon, sir. How may I help you?" to "Fine! Take it and get out!"

Well, I tried this last night on way home from work - trying to recall the specifics about the "deal" - and it didn't work because I forgot about looking @ the shelf sticker.
Well, I did a return on that one & checked the store I was at right then - no luck. Neither of the titles had that extra tag. Went back to the same store from last night - on a hunch - & lo-n-behold there the sticker was. I had completely missed reading it the previous visit.
Went up to checkout w/1 of each title & when they rang up wrong, I mentioned the shelf tag to the clerk. She asked me to show her, so I did. She brought both tags to the front & after a little discussion with the manager-on-duty, she changed the price to the $17.99 tag $.
Only problem was that the manager said for the clerk to staple those tags to the PM paperwork - as "the sale was ending today anyways".
For the inquisitive - that was the Almeda store in Houston, Tx. The Pasadena & Baybrook stores did not have either shelf tag. In fact, only the Rosanne set had a tag @ either of those 2 stores.

Thanks for the deal! Got Justice League for $17.99 today - they had me go get the shelf talker for "proof" and then kept it...but the deal is over in a few hours anyway...

Got Mine!!
I went to the Macon, Ga. Best Buy this afternoon. I had the same experience as everyone else. They let me have them (Tales from the crypt S3, Justice League) for $17.99 after they checked the tag on the shelf. Then they promptly removed the tags. The only differance is they kept apologizing to me for making me wait, which was only about 5min. And for charging me the wrong price when they first tried to ring them up.
