Movies that were mostly good but crashed and burned towards the end

A lot of movies are out there I enjoy to watch but, IMO, have a weak ending or lackluster third act that damages the rest of the feature. Some that spring to mind for me are:

Jurassic Park 3
Van Helsing
Hulk
Planet of the Apes (Burton version)
Red Eye

War of the Worlds (2005). Not really a "crash and burn", but definitely unbelievable. Still a entertaining movie to watch.

Spoiler:
Ah crap, we ran out of money. Uh, just shoot the climax with a couple actors on the beach!

Signs.

As long as the invaders are a mostly unseen menace the film commands your attention. The second nothing is left to the imagination the film takes a bigger fall than Kong off the Empire State Building.

"Last Action Hero"

Last part of the film becomes the movie they were making fun of at the beginning.

Identity. What a corny ending!

You keep saying "mostly good". I do not think it means what you think it means.

Jeepers Creepers, the first half was fairly entertaining, but it managed to fall apart the second half. I will second Signs, as soon as I saw the first alien, I lost interest in the movie. As for Identity, I kind of liked that ending.

Jurassic Park 3 crashed & burned right after the Amblin Entertainment logo came on.

Some of these were mentioned already, (some went south midway through), but off the top of my head :

Signs
War of the Worlds
Contact
High Tension
Saw
Conspiracy Theory

Most Speilberg movies in the last ten years. Ending doesnt match with the tone of the rest of the movie.

I thought flight plan was a perfect example. I liked the start, but just the end was completely crazy.

I don't agree with some of your choices there. I think that van Helsing was terrible all the way through...as was Planet of the Apes.

As for the Hulk i thought that its worst part was all the beginning....it just took too damn long to get to the Hulk (which is what everyone wanted to see). I thought the end made up for the beginning of the film if anything. I still enjoy the film....but this is a good film whane it could have been a truly great film.

As for my personal suggestions i can't really think of any.....usually i love or hate a film within the first 15-20 minutes. Once that has happened it is near to impossible for me to change my mind.

Mulholland Drive
An interesting film with some great performances that crashes and burns once Lynch tries to end what was originally an open-ended pilot.

Revolver
Starts off as a great crime caper with a few tricks up its sleeve, but then ends in a metaphysical whimper.

Chasing Amy

I thought this was the best Kevin Smith film...until the end.

Two recent "aw fuck" inducing endings for me:

High Tension
Munich
