American Idol -- Final 11 -- 03/21/06

The eleven finalists perform before the judges and the TV audience. Tonight's theme is songs from the 50's.

Pick the person that will be going home tomorrow night. I have excluded Taylor Hicks from the poll.

Since I think Kevin has been absolutley horrible in all his performances, but hasnt even made it to the bottom 3, then I guess I should hope for a good performance from him (if he can?) and good imput from Simon because then maybe people won't feel sorry for him and cast those pity votes and maybe he will finally go home?

The theme is "Songs from the 1950's".

There should be something for everybody here. Lots of great songs from that era. Song selection may be what makes or breaks the contestants this time around.

Safe: Ace and Lisa. Their fans will rally after last week.

Most in danger: Bucky and Kevin.

The real question: who will get Melissa's votes? The obvious choice seems to be Kellie, but looking around on the message boards Melissa fans tend to not like Kellie at all. My guess: her country following will migrate to Bucky, and her rock following will migrate to Chris.

I like the theme this week. Thank God it's not Barry Manilow songs. That would be painful.

With the 50's theme Paris & Lisa should sail through, you know how much they like to sing older songs.

Now the one I'm curious about is Chris.

Too bad Gideon didnt make it to this week...this genre is right up his alley.

Funny how they always tell the contestants to stay contemporary and then they throw this at them...

I wasn't talking genre, I was talking in generalities.

Still *patiently* waiting to see how he can handle a slow slong. First time I heard him was on the Hollywood audition doing "Emotions" which I thought sounded real good. But I wouldn't be surprised if we're gonna get another fast-paced tune from him tonight.

No idea how he can handle a slow slong. Or a slow schlong for that matter. However, we have seen him do a slow song (he sang "Broken" a few weeks ago).

Yay MANDISA! Awesome awesome awesome! It was nice that Simon said she looked sexy, instead of pulling a Paula and being like: You're face looks so pretty tonight, i.e. you're a fat girl with a pretty face.

Send Chris home now for bastardizing a once great song.

he might as well just sing lightning crashes and get it over with.

oh now feel it comin' back again
like a rollin' thunder chasing the wind
forces pullin' from the center of the earth again
I can feel it,
YEAH!!!!!!!

Oh God, that Johnny Cash cover was terrible. He probably watched the movie last night and thought it would be a good choice. And what was up with the comment that the song was edgy for its time? Some of his songs certainly were, but Walk the Line? Uhh, no way.

Yeah I really like Chris, but I didn't find that cover all that special. It was still pretty darn good!

If you are covering a song, you either sing it very close to as it was originally arranged or you do something different AND tasteful with it. He turned I Walk the Line, probably one of the 100 greatest songs ever written, into a Live/Staind song.

I agree. I thought it was a good performance - best of the night so far.

Paris also sang well. She has a such a great voice, but her personality isn't all that interesting.

Bucky was terrible.

Katherine looked great, but sang ok.

Mandisa wasn't that great in my opinion.

But, of the first 5, only Bucky was just plain bad.

I love Cash, I like Chris a lot, and I can't wait to see him sing that tonight. I hate being behind the time zones. I want some of that right now. Damn it.

I just don't see what's so great about Katharine. Maybe it's cuz she reminds me of 3,000 of the girls at my college, so imo she's just not that special for me. Yeah she's cute and bubbly, but in case you haven't noticed, she's a white female singer; they're either bubbly, angsty, or effin pissed off. Ionno....don't mean to diss her, cuz I prefer her MUCH more than that TRITE Kellie Pickler....boy what a hack.

Tonight though, everyone is really bringing it so far, cept for Bucky, he must have forgotten his va-oice back with his bar-ain in the ba-arn.

I agree, I don't see anything special about her. May be it's her song selections that I have no interest in. I do like her boobs and butt

Ok... does anyone else think that sans bow tie, Taylor Hicks looks like Pee Wee Herman in that getup?
