Can IPOD Videos Be Emailed ?

My brother has an Ipod video and has downloaded all of the Season 2 episodes of Lost.

I recently bought Season 1 on DVD and watched all of the episdes in a few days. I'm totally hooked on this show ! It's awesome.

I was over his house last night and we watched the 1st episode of Season 2 on his PC thru itunes.

Is there any way he can email the Season 2 files so I can watch them on my PC using itunes ?

They would be big files. I think it would depend on your email account.

I know Gmail allows large files. My husband emails himself MP3s at work using his Gmail account.

Zipping them won't compress them much at all because they are already compressed file formats.

I'm not sure how file shrinking works, but I'd think you could use a program like winrar to make the files small enough to email?

Why can't he burn them on a DVD or CD and give it to you?

No, it's not going to work. The videos are digitally watermarked to play only on his account. Unless you both have the same iTunes music store account set up on your iTunes, I don't think you'll be able to view them.

To my knowledge, TV episodes, especially for something like Lost, will be large in an order of magnitude of 10 to 30 times more than audio, if not more. But sending them is not the issue, it's playing them.

You'd have to convert the files to a non-iTunes format. Again, simply sharing the files will NOT LET YOU PLAY THEM.

Sounds like you will have to take the burner out of your PC and put it in his. Make sure the files will even play on your PC like BUS said above. I've never bought a video thru Itunes so I don't know.

How about just getting a thumb drive?

I do think with the DRM they might not play on anybody else's computer, however. And certainly because of the DRM, you won't be able to convert them to any kind of DVD format. I know, I've tried.

ABC is suppose to be starting their own ad-based "free" download service in May. http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3588801

If you can wait that long.

Does iTunes video work like iTunes music, where the content will play on up to 5 authorized computers?

I can play files I purchased at home on my work computer because both are authorized to play them.

Correct, if his computer is authorized he could also play them.

1) iTunes video files are not 'watermarked'. Watermarking is what you see on channels such as TNT and crap like that. They contain DRM and are digitaly restricted to the purchasers account. So, even if you get the files, they will not play for you.

2) If you're not allowed to attach more than 5MB to emails, the normal restriction of most ISP providers, you can use a free service such as http://www.mailbigfile.com/ you can freely send files up to 1GB in size.

3) Skip all that and get the torrent...

Not entirely true. If You load it in Itunes, and copy it to your Ipod it will play regardless of who paid for the track.
