No one here reporting on the Independent Spirit Awards?
Sarah Silverman AND Kevin Smith? How could it not be funny?
Wish I got a channel that carried it.
Did anybody here watch it?

IFC had all the f-bombs intact. peter gallager's "on top of old brokeback, all covered with sheep..." number was pretty funny. sarah was hilarious, but kevin smith's schtick is getting too predictable, imo. awards went to the actors and filmmakers that deserved them, for the most part. you know the academy would never give robert eslwit a win for goodnight and good luck. and the young man accepting two awards, one for himself, the other for his creative-partner that died from a heart attack two days prior at the age of 37 was heartbreaking. lili tyler fiercely held back tears. all in all, it was a much more satisfying telecast than the oscars.

I liked how Ang Lee made fun of The Hulk during his acceptance speech.
He said something like "It's nice to be on this stage again. I haven't been here in 5 years, since Crouching Tiger. In between, I made The Hulk."

Mopower, it is like the "indie" version of the Oscars. They have them every year right before the Oscars and they are pretty fun, very casual, and they honor movies that Oscar usually overlooks.

These were great! It's the first year I've seen them, but they're on every year the day before the Oscars and, as someone else pointed out, are MUCH more satisfying, funny and real than the Oscars -- and BONUS: on IFC, they were without commercial interruption! I plan to make this an annual viewing on Oscar weekend.

All I know is that red carpet moment on the pre-show where they had all the "best actress" nominees on at the same time was very uncomfortable. It was an idea that seemed better on paper than it turned out.
