Call of Duty 2: Update details - Less Lag, More Killing, Lobbies, & More!

This was announced on the Xbox forums by Infinity Ward:

Dear Call of Duty Community:

As you recall, we announced plans that we were working on our second Title Update for Call of Duty 2, improving the Xbox Live multiplayer functionality. We’re happy to report that this update is currently in the final stages of testing and all is going well. In fact, we will be releasing it soon, so stay tuned. To give you a better understanding of what we have been working on, the second COD2 Title Update will have the following enhancements:

1. Player Lag has been addressed

Plus, we have added the following functionality:

2. Private Game Lobbies / Reserved Slots

3. Enabled the Live Host to set custom game options

4. Map Preferences setting

5. Post Game Lobbies (all players at end of match will return to their game lobby)

6. Enemy Player Name Notification

7. Ability for the Host to kick a player

8. In game Lobby - Game Type, Map and Host Notifications

Again, thank you for your support…and stay tuned for future updates!

- Infinity Ward
Sounds like most everything the game should have had on release day. Glad to see them step up and fix this game.

Nice.. Lobbies was the biggest issue in the game. It made it all but impossible to meet up with friends online and play a game.

As much as I enjoy this fix, I also lament the fact that this gets us so much closer to the release-early-while-broken-a-patch-later-will-fix-it schedule on PCs.

well at least the single player was very good when released... people playing online already shouldn't mind downloading a patch too much. What really sucks is when the single player off line mode has real problems and then they release a download to fix it... and some people playing the single player mode might not have a connection to download a patch.

I doubt it. I think this only happed because it was a launch title. Other games don't have the time restraint to force them out the door.

Great news. Never got online to play, but split screen locally was pretty damn fun. Looking forward to the patch.

Now we'll have to have a Call of Duty 2 night.

Wednesdays and Fridays are out.

I wouldn't mind a PGR3 night -- for at least a couple hours.

Too bad my Live just got pulled... though at this point I'm debating if keeping this system, despite what I went through to get it, is even or worth the price.

Went through that phase, too. It's a bitch, ain't it?

I wonder if they are hoping to get this out before Battlefield 2 so they can stay at the top as the best selling FPS on the system. Makes you wonder.

Nope. The update a few weeks back fixed the save game bug in the single player campaign.
