Name this song in a Target commercial

It's a 60's tune (or at least the original was) containing the lyrics...'nothing can change the shape of things to come'

What is the title and performer of this song?

Thanks

The song is called Shape Of Things To Come. There have been a few versions of it. The original(I believe) is by Slade. There's also a version by the Ramones.

Actually, I believe Max Frost and the Troopers did it first. They're on my Nuggets box set.

-edit to add-

I haven't seen the Target commercial, so I don't know which version it is.

Yeah I think the Max Frost version was the original, but I don't think that's what they are using on the Target commercial. They are definitely not using the Slade or Ramones version either. Maybe it's just some studio version for the commercial?

I believe the original was used in the film "Wild in the Streets" as well.

Ah, thanks. On a side note I was trying to remember the name of that movie as well cause the song reminded me of it.

Figured I'd resurrect this old thread for that new Target commercial. Anyone know who is covering that 80's song "Big Country" in the new ad? It's kind of a slower acoustic version. It sounds pretty cool. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nazareth also covered the song on the '74 Rampant album. Jon Lord of Deep Purple appears on the track playing synthezizer(sp?). Bowie covered it on his album of covers, Pin Ups.

Most definitely from that film, as it's the theme song.

I have the DVD - (it's an MGM "Midnite Movies" two-fer, with the movie Gas-s-s-s) - and what a great little jem of a movie it is, too. And just to clarify, it is also the Max Frost & The Troopers version they are using in the TARGET commercial. I've got it on the Nuggets From Nuggets single disc comp that came out in 2000.

Actually, that's in a KOHLS commercial - but in regards to the song, I looked it up the other days and found out it was former OURS singer Jimmy Gnecco and some studio session musicians who recorded the track specifically for the commerical. So far, it remains unavailable to buy or download anywhere.

Click This link for more info.

And for the record, the song is called "In A Big County", while the band who wrote it is just Big Country. Easily confusing, but also a good technical/trick trivia question.
