Spirit of the Beehive region 1 ?
The description in the current Cleveland Cinematheque schedule leads me to believe that there maybe a region 1 release of "The Spirit of The Beehive"; has anyone heard anything?
THE SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE
EL ESPIRITU DE LA COLMENA
Spain, 1973, Victor Erice
Here's a new 35mm color print of one of the great modern films – a haunting tale of two young girls living in a rural village in 1940 Franco Spain, at the end of the Spanish Civil War. Amid a muted, repressed family atmosphere, one of the children (the extraordinary 8-year-old Ana Torrent) escapes into private fantasies and reveries inspired by the movie Frankenstein, which she has just seen. Dr. Linda Ehrlich, associate professor at Case and author of the book An Open Window: The Cinema of Victor Erice (she is also doing the commentary on the upcoming DVD release of Spirit), will lecture about the film before the screening. "Not since Forbidden Games has any movie entered so deeply into the perilous country of children's nightmares and fantasies." –The NY Times. Cleveland revival premiere.

It has been discussed in the criterionforum.org that this title will most likely be released by Criterion.

I'd also like to see Erice's El Sur (The South) and The Quince Tree Sun (Dream of Light). Apparently the latter was released on NTSC video a couple of years ago, and I think it's out on DVD in Europe, but I haven't been able to view either film, unfortunately.
This guy makes films even less frequently than Malick, and is at least as esteemed by critics.

No, I didn't know that offhand, even though I keep abreast of what's being shown there - the new schedule is coming soon: www.e.bell.ca/filmfest/cinematheque/home.asp Anyway, I have seen "Spirit of the Beehive", albeit years ago; I'm more interested in getting it on DVD and seeing the others. I believe Cinematheque has had his films as part of a Director Series at least once before (in fact I'm fairly certain), but I don't always manage to get downtown.
