Matisyahu - YOUTH [3/7/06]
It's been leaked and sounds pretty good so far.
1 Fire of Heaven/Altar of Earth
2 Youth
3 Time of Your Song
4 Dispatch the Troops
5 Indestructible
6 What I'm Fighting For
7 Jerusalem
8 WP
9 Shalom/Salaam (Interlude)
10 Late Night in Zion
11 Unique is My Dove
12 Ancient Lullaby
13 King Without a Crown
New King without a Crown version, enjoyed that. Glad to see Matisyahu getting a lot of respect and props from the music community.

Cool beans! Picked up the live album not too long ago. Great stuff.
I think my cousin is going to the Raggamuffins Festival this weekend to check him out!
Man, he must put on a good show. I'm jealous.

Saw him last night in LBC. Great performance, he had the place goin' crazy during most of his songs.
Most people from the festival/crowd where there just to see him.

I kept hearing all this talk about a band called Modest Yahoo on my local alt-rock station. I finally figured out today that it's this guy they're talking about. D'oh!
I'm curious to hear his music...I'll have to check some of it out.

Ok, call this a threadcrap if you must, but...
Can someone tell me what is so innovative or interesting about this dude? I've been seeing mentions if him everywhere, but when I finally heard him, he pretty much sounds like every reggae song I've ever heard. If his only hook is "he's a hassidic Jew doing reggae", then what are all the critics raving about?
??

Matisyahyu has been a favorite of mine ever since I found out about him mid last year. Excellent artist and I love his raggae and the message he sends out. He is also one of the few performers out there that his live performances are heads above his studio performances and he just sounds great over all. Big fan of his.

maybe I'm just too old, or just used to the relative slowness of dub..

Loved the Live at Stubbs CD and while this one is not as strong there are some good tracks on there. Definitely enjoyed the new CD more than most CDs I have listened to recently. Weird that my favorite artists that perform typically black music are all Jewish.

Its a bad sign when the best song on the album is the Studio version of the live hit from your first superior album.
But who cares if his albums are great...just like the band he used to follow around the country (Phish), hes better as a concert phenomenon.
